jazz sucks

Jazz musicians are the most talented in the universe,

How can you tell?  Who can tell when a jazz musician is screwing up or just improvising?  ;)

Seriously, I feel a bit sorry for people who know too much about music.  They are tormented by less than perfect timing and intonation whereas those of us who just know what we like to listen to can be perfectly happy with less refined talent or creativity.

Don't feel sorry for me, not for a minute. When I hear Miles Davis soaring through scales, and working chords in way's that most people can not think of, I am at peace with the universe, in a very rewarding and spiritual place These guys can and do make mistakes, the idea that they can get on a stage and engage the rules of music notation and challange time signatures, most do not even know are possible, is like watching a guy on a high wire, without a net

When I hear Art Blakey beatuing out fractions that come from somewhere in his crative soul, it just puts me in such a beautiful space.

And When I listen to Louis Armstrong, my soul dances

When I listen to Monk play that piano or Trane play that sax, or Joe Pass, play his guitar, I hear genius and it is awesome.

As for off tone, and horrid BS, that's what the dial on my radio is for,

The above statement does not mean that only Jazz is worth listening too, but as i said there is more Jazz than I canl isten to in my lifetime no need for anyone to feel sorry for me

How about Warren Haynes of Government Mule and the Allman Brothers - excellent slide work.

Hey Muddy - go on You Tube and punch in "Senator Sam" by Buddy Rich. There is a guitar solo by a guy named James Bruno that is a killer.

Least Favorite (mini-rant):

Herman Li from Dragonforce who is not 1/17th as good as people think he is. His sweep picking is ridiculously simple and has zero creativity. It is also not that fast. Someone who doesn't play shred guitar could listen to it and thing it was blazing but believe me its not. If you want to see really fast sweep picking, check out Serrana or Altitudes by Jason Becker on youtube.

My thing is drums, not guitar, but I can safley say that speed is not everything. Sometimes it is much more difficult to play slower than fast,
