We need to bail out Detroit--NOW

No, I'm not talking Fords, Chevy's and Dodges, I'm talking the 0-13 Detroit Lions. On the brink of disaster, only a massive federal infusion of talent on both sides of the line can stave off the bankruptcy of a 0-16 record. Estimated cost would be $100 million, mere chump change by federal standards, only about 30¢ per U.S. resident.

We need to act forcefully and immediately to prevent the toxic effects from rippling through the Upper Midwest and then the entire nation. Some will say this is a slippery slope--- if we do it for Detroit, then Cincinnati and Kansas City will be next, looking for similar handouts. Perhaps so, but we'll have to cross that bridge when we get to it.

In the meantime, we cannot afford further delay. Congress and the President must put aside their partisan differences and implement a plan that takes effect before Sunday's expected slide to 0-14.

Please e-mail your representatives in Washington and demand their immediate attention to this urgency.

Thanks for reminding me that Detroit has a Pro football team. I almost forgot.  As for a bail-out; isn't that what the Lions have been doing all season? ;D

Actually they are pretty good. Just not good enough to win an NFL game. Most of thier losses have been close, except for 3-4 blowouts.

fishfordollars, your comments are irrelevant.  You will be assimilated. The Borg have spoken.

No bailout.  I want to see them run the table, backwards.  Rod will get fired and come back to Tampa to take over for Monty after he leaves to go to Tenn.

That's funny coming from a guy in Ohio.    ;)

Things aren't going to change very much unless Bill Ford either gives the team to Bill Jr., or sells the team to someone with a brain.

I believe we haven't sunk as low as Detroit yet.

Being a lions fan is not easy, and you perch-jerkers aren't helping any! Minnesota leading the north? They beat us 2 games by a total of 6 pts., and the lions should've/could've won them both. They just don't have the talent. And ol' man Ford is not the problem, except for keeping Millen around too long. He spends the money and stays outta the way. Isn't that the way most pres. / head coaches would like it? Best thing about this season is that Marinelli still has the men playing hard and not giving up. He may not be a headcoach, but he's a good coach, and i hope he's still with the team (in some capacity) next year. And, thanks to that little creep Jerry Jones for giving us his first & other picks for Roy Williams...how is that workin' for you???

Oh and bass-brat, what is worse- 1 bad team, OR TWO BAD TEAMS?

Ohio only has one team , the one farther south doesn't count.

You are a brat!   :)

I've been a Browns fan for over 45 years and yes they truly suck. Hope things get better for both of our teams.

I bet they could pick up Plaxico Burress cheap if they wanted to. ;D

Plaxico would be a better fit with the Bengals or the Cowboys. I think players are required to have legal issues there.

Finally, after all these years of being the brunt of everybodys jokes, we have the DIVISION CHAMPIONS. ;D Go Cardinals! Oh, I'm also a lifetime Steelers fan formerly from PA so I have to add Go Steelers! Happy fishing.
