I came to Florida in 1987 to work for the US Army Corps of Engineers.  4 years of that and then 5 years with a private engineering company and owner/bottle washer of a construction company since then.  Up until last year I loved it and made lots of money.  This year, not so much.

I wax teeth ( ask bass or bass how fun it is) and drill on plastic teeth for now, but will be a dentist in 2 years. I love what I do and wouldn't trade it for the world.

I work for the united states airforce as a civil engineer basically run heavy equipment and anything construction . Been in the airforce 2 yrs not to bad of a job especially the way the economy is. i put on my next rank in july.

That's cool man, what rank is that?

I've been in the Air Force for 5 years, testing for my next rank and I've been stationed in the south and now in Maryland.

I'm an aviation mechanic. Good job and the Air Force's Aircraft and going anywhere.

Best decision I've ever made and the job security is always there.

Sales and account management for a national metal distribution company.  Sounds boring but its the people that make the job.  Also the benefits are great.  Been there for about 8 months and still love going in everyday.

Before that I worked installing fire sprinkler systems in new and old buildings.  Good job as well but at 23 I knew it wasn't what I was going to do for the rest of my life.

Im an independant contractor who specializes fire and accoustics conformity.  Basically, I build walls/floors/ and ceilings for the greater gypsum industry, and Underwriters Labs burn them up.  I do the accoustics work at Riverbank Accoustics Lab.  Love my job, alot of job security built in when your stuff gets burnt to the ground!

Penn State Student and unemployed since Sunday.

owner and operator of custom cabinet and finish carpentry co. I did have 8 guys working for me but I live in Michigan so know its just me. Here is my web site with samples of my work.

Wow i read this whole thread and no Landscapers??? I guess i will have to do for this field  ...Landscape manager. It is NOT just cutting grass in little ole ladies back yard for $10.  ;D We service home builders, large commercial, apartments  and high end residential. Worked my up from being the mechanic (the lowest paid employee at the company) to division manager  in one of the five divisions of the company. It a great company to work for and they have treated me very well. Usually work 4-10hr days so that leaves alot of time for fishing!!!! :)

I own a full service Advertising Studio, one man show it gets busy at times 60+ hrs a week but I get to make my own vacations for fishing hehe. Printing, Video Production, Graphic Design, Web Design, Vinyl Graphics and Photography.

i'm a film and video director/producer... i started a production company 15 years ago with a friend from film school... we produce independent feature films and also do a lot of work in the retail apparel industry, producing brand, marketing and training productions for the web and DVD... our company is called rockville creative inc.

a few years ago i combined my enthusiasm for bass fishing with my passion for filmmaking to create LUNKERVILLE, the show that features real people and real fish stories... we start shooting our 5th season this month and air on the World Fishing Network.

that's me... that's what i do... and i love it!

Great thread - it's always interesting to hear about different ways to make a living  :)

Toolpusher (rig supervisor) on an on-land oil/gas drilling rig. Last week I was a driller for 7 days as the recent downturn has our rigs going up and down (stacked out). I'm good in this position for at least the next 10 days, then maybe back to drilling, depending on when one of our rigs finishes up, if they find more work. I am hoping I don't end up as a roughneck or even worse laid-off, but I don't see that happening as our company is the best in the area. Safety,Safety Safety. Deeper, Cheaper.

x2 on the landscaping, I have worked several summers in a few different landscaping businesses, of course I am very low on the totem pole so I do all the fun work  ;)

I wire and assemble electric generators for Caterpillar . Good job , pays great , just gets a little boring doing the same thing day in and day out . But I'm not going to complain too much . It could be worse .

I'm a lawyer.  Hours are long and the job is stressful (everything a lawyer does has a deadline).  Most of the time I enjoy it.  If it wasn't for jerk judges and clients with unrealistic expectations I would enjoy it all of the time.  Right now the practice of law is one of the most competitive businesses anywhere and it is only going to get more competitive.  It's a difficult way to make a living but it does pay the bills and when you are able to help someone it makes you feel good about what you do.

Im only seventeen, but i help a local farmer on his pig farm.

Last year i was working for a carpet cleaning company. You know how everyone says they hate their first job? I stand by that!!! WORST JOB EVER!!!!
