Not exactly breaking news, but Barnett is out for next weekend's fight with Fedor.  This is killing me.  I've been looking forward to this fight for years.  Barnett may be the only one who's got what it takes to at least challenge Fedor.  At this point it looks like the likely replacement is Vitor Belfort.  That's right, 200lb Vitor.  Potential beat down of the decade coming up if this gets signed.  Still a great card, but this is a huge, epic letdown.

The one I would love to see is Fedor beat the heck out of Brock lesnar

Fedor has made a living relying on his speed to overwhelm much larger men.

Now he's the larger, slower guy. Don't forget how quick and devestating Vitor's standup is.

I'm actually more intrigued by this new match-up.

Good stuff... Fedor does a lot better vs bigger guys than he does with smaller guys. Although he is technically the fastest HW there is, Vitor stands a lot better chance than Barnett.

So brutal.  Been looking forward to Babalu v Mousasi since it was announced.  Hopefully Affliction will just fold up and the UFC will take on the bigger name fighters.

 

I think Barnett intentionally failed the drug test so he could avoid the beatdown he was about to be dealt.

Affliction agreed to a deal with the UFC. Affliction shuts down and comes back to the UFC (selling their clothing). The UFC absorbs all of Affliction's fighter's contracts. Except for Fedor, of course.

Fedor & Co. are part owners/have interests in M-1 (another fight league) so he is not "in contract" with anyone except himself. Since Affliction folded, Fedor's people now say they are open to discussions with UFC. BUT they want any promotion of Fedor and/or Fedor's fights in the UFC to be co-promoted with the M-1 Series. This means that M-1 will be piggybacking on the UFC's promotion of Fedor. Any mention of Fedor will also include mention of M-1. That could spell trouble when trying to get Fedor. Dana White may not be too keen on the idea of another fight series getting free press that he (UFC) is paying for.

Plus, Fedor & Co. like to sign 1 fight contracts. The UFC certainly does not want Fedor to come in on a one fight deal, possibly stomp Lesnar and ride off into the sunset with the HW title to fight somewhere else. I have a bad feeling about the whole situation. We'll see.

The UFC is having a press conference on the 31st to announce a few things. I believe one of those things will be that ESPN will start to air some of the UFC's free fights (Fight Night) like Spike does now. Hopefully they'll have some new info on the Fedor situation. I really want to see him destroy Lesnar.

Yes, he's in the next series of the Ultimate Fighter reality show. Rumor has it that he gets beat in his first fight. Supposedly someone that was also on the show leaked that info but I dont know whether to believe it or not.
