Can you guys help my buddy Ollie? It seems he had a new home constructed and is having a little problem getting the boat back up in the garage. He mentioned that his trailer brakes keep locking up. Can't imagine why...

Now that looks to me like when the front wheels of the vehicle enter the garage, the angle is such that the middle of the undercarriage is going to get hung up.  The obvious question here is why would anybody build a house/garage like that. Surely there are other plans with a sub garage and a room over it.

That's an easy one. Pick up the house and move it at least 50 yards back off the street.

Cut the bank down, build the garage on a lower level.  Doesn't have to be as low as the street but certainly lower than it is.

We have a house locally that is almost the opposite problem.  The house is built on street level with the garage on a basement level, with a steep driveway going downhill into the garage.  Aside from not being able to get out of the garage and up the drive in snowy weather, guess what happens during heavy rains. 

Seriously who designs this stuff?  They invented bull dozers for a reason.

That's crazy, looks like any car would bottom out in that situation!

1. rebuild it

2. get a new trailer

3. leave the boat outside

4.get a crane and drop the boar through the roof

5. build a lake in your backyard, leave boat there.

It could be but I have personally seen a few houses that have been built that are just as extreme as that when I used to read electric meters.

Kind of reminds me of the Stick Marsh back in the early 90's. :

There is a house near my in-laws that has a driveway that is just as steep as that, only about four times longer.

I realize dozer work isn't cheap, but d**n.

Put it into Google earth, there's a street view of those houses, obviously finished.  The grade, while steep, isn't like the photo shown.

I don't know whats worse... someone designing that like they did or someone taking the time to photoshop something so meaningless.

Doesn't look like the same house to me. Driveways aren't close enough together and I don't see a sidewalk. That driveway is still pretty darn steep though.

Where I live some of the housing developers are local campaign contributors. You can guess the rest.
