My wife and I said good bye to our first dog this morning. It was time. It was hard. As happy as we were when we got him as a puppy, is as sad as we are today. Kodi was as gentle and friendly

as a Malamute could be. We will miss him.

Rest in peace old friend.

My heart goes out to you; we always have to let them go too soon. Nothing like a new puppy to cheer you up when you're ready though.

Sorry to here you guys had a loss A-Jay.  You and your wife have thoughts, prayers, and a big ol'hug coming from down state.

I'm sure you'll miss Kodi and the things he gave you folks.  And from the way the wife talked, I'll bet you guys gave him lots in return.

Is Diesel the only puppy at home now?

Thank you, - no, Diesel has a red headed step brother - Cinnabar is a red and white Siberian Husky we rescued 6 years ago. It's going to take all of us some time to get used to the now smaller pack.

Sorry for your lost A-Jay.It's always hard to lose a pet that's part of the family.

It really hurts to lose a family member, especially one so loyal and kind.  He had a good life with you guys.  He's lucky to have been with such a wonderful family.

Don't worry about him.  He's in a great place now, just waiting for you to join him.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

My heart goes out to you on this one - I have been there several times over the years and it never gets easier - Glenn's post helps a little - I have one right now that will be heading that way before too long.

Hi,

This is Lynn, A-Jay's wife. Thank you for the kind messages. Kodi humbled us in many ways and gave us much more than we could ever give him in return, although we tried. We shared our life with him for 11.5 years. He saw many people and other pets come and go. He moved with us several times, saw us get married and brought more smiles to peoples faces than one could imagine. He had one mission in life. To make us happy. He tried his best up until he took his last breathe, when he was still giving us his biggest Malamute smile, even though he was having such a hard time. He is running free now. Like Glenn posted, we will meet again one day at the Rainbow Bridge. Our hearts are broken, but Kodi will be a part of our spirits forever.

I have to go hug A-Jay, Diesel & Cinnabar now...

:'(

Condolences.

Hardest thing I have ever done, too.

They are a part of the family and it is difficult to say goodbye.

Time to get a puppy.  :)

Sorry for losing your lil' buddy Lynn and A-Jay. I guess it helps that you have other dogs, but i really wouldn't know. We got our pal in january of the year we got married, 15 yrs. ago. Jake is still getting around good, but i know his time is coming. It will kill us. Thanks Glen for sharing that with us, it helped me anyways.
