I'm looking forward to this season.  The 'Hawks have made a lot of major changes they've needed for a long time. So it will be interesting to see how this rebuilding year plays out.

Besides, they'd be hard pressed to do worse than last year!  ;D

Being that he grew up about 25 miles from me and graduated the same year as I, I hope Julius can turn it up a notch in Seattle myself.  I would have never thought growing up he would be the athlete he turned out to be.

Glenn, I don't know about their coach Pete Carroll .He seems to have bailed out of a heap of trouble at USC that he created in the nick of time. Not a sign of integrity.

GO HORNS !

Yes! College and pro football means the world is coming back to normal.

Can't wait to see which teams will be surprises and which ones will phloch.

Finebaum on Sirius and XM radio has already crowned Alabama and Lou Satan as BCS Champs.

As for the pros, can the Saints repeat? Will Peyton be able to bring the title to Indy? Will the Cowboys fail again?

Should be fun. So lets start the smack in a few weeks.

For example, North Caroline cheats.  :)

(OK,  I know the only ball that counts at UNC is a basketball but they are under NCAA football investigation. Basketball NCAA investigations for Kentucky, Kansas, Duke and UNC are off limits)

Saints will be stronger this year on both sides of the ball! For anyone who likes to read I would recommend reading Drew's new book. Highly motivational for anyone not just Saints fans.

Bears to win NFC north.

that or they won't

Can't argue that prediction.

Yep, I certainly expected somebody to mention that.  I don't profess to know anything about that controversy, so I have no alliance to either side of the issue.  It is what it is, and nothing can be done about it. So, now that the predictable has been said, let's move on...

Oh wait! One more - the Rodney Rule regarding coach Carrol.  Some are saying the Hawks did a token interview to fulfill that rule.  And to that I say, "Big Whoop".  Requiring candidates to be interviewed simply based on color, creed, sex, religion, etc. is wrong.  They should be interviewed based on their resume, abilities, track record, etc.  In other words, their qualifications for the job!  So I see nothing wrong with the Hawks doing a token act to fulfill a token rule.

Ok, so NOW that the predictable has been said about the new coach, let's move on.

I can't wait for College football!

Wow, token rule?  Really? Nice trivilization of a big forward step toward equality. Hey Glenn, the 1950's called....

The spirit of the ROONEY rule is to give minority coaches a fighting chance at merely getting an interview for an NFL job.  You can't deny there is a serious lack of minority representation among high level coaches in both college and the pro level.  Minority coaches are getting interviewed for jobs that they would have never had the chance to get.

The Steelers are a great example.  Wisenhunt and Grimm were considered the front runners when Bill Cowher left the position.  Mike Tomlin was interviewed as part of the ROONEY Rule.  Lo and behold, he impressed during his interview.

I think he has done pretty well so far.

Go Steelers.

My biggest question is can my Packers keep Aaron Rodgers on his feet and off his back.  He is rated the top fantasy QB this year!

Also what about the Titans?  Imagine Vince Young and Cris Johnson at the top of thier game running some option or reads.  Or will Young run off again and go home to mommy? ;D

Congrats Redskins fans. You are picked 3rd this year......

in the state of VA. AAA level.

Speed - one questionable exception doesn't change the fact that a person should be interviewed and hired based upon their skills and abilities, not because they get a hall pass due to their age, gender, race, etc.  That's not discrimination, THAT'S equality.

Again, I'm speaking about the whole concept. So don't come running to me with some exception in an attempt to undermine the fact that the whole premise behind the Rooney rule is wrong.

Can we get back to talking about the upcoming season now?

Now that the Raiders got rid of that codeine drinking slug Jamarcus Russell....they will rule the AFC West once again.

Their journey starts tomorrow night in Dallas where they will issue the Cowgirls a preseason beatdown.

Well if you believe Al Davis, this year's Raiders are like the 1980 Super Bowl champs. ::)

Let the ticket sales begin!

Questionable exception?  I'm not sure I follow.  Would you mind elaborating?

Amen.

As far as Pete C. goes; I'd take him as a headcoach 1,000,000 times more than half the ones out there already coaching in the NFL. And Lane Kiffen's antics will make USC fans BEG for Carroll back regardless of what's happened in the past.

I set foot on a field for the first time this year tomorrow night.  Hopefully  I don't die of a heart attack or heat stroke.
