WHY?

Recommended Posts

I have posted quite a bit in the last 2 days since I'm stuck in the house with snot nose, itchy eyes and a sore throat. Here's my question, which doesn't really need an answer.

My 2 1/2 year old is on the WHY kick. EVERYTHING is WHY.

Son, time for dinner. WHY?

Son, I'm sick and can't go outside. WHY?

Son, don't stick your fingers up my nose. WHY?

Son, go give your mom a hug. WHY?

No son, you can't have another choochoo train. WHY?

Son, I love you. WHY?

I have answered every one of his "whys' with the best, reasonable answer I could come up with over the past month. But, if I hear one more "why" I think I'll stick him the closet. When do the "WHYS" stop?

My three year old is all about everything being stupid.  I have no doubt his older brother is responsible.

Ignore it, or answer bluntly and truthfully.  Its annoying, but some "Why's" are worth talking about.

I remember when my oldest son was about three years old. He went through that "why" phase too. One day, I finally asked him "why must you question everything I say?" Without missing a beat, he replied "that's how I learn."

Enjoy your kids while they're young. Right now, you are the world's smartest person in his eyes. In 15 years, you'll be the dumbest.

I tried reverse psychology.  He took me by the finger and led me into his bedroom, saying "come on daddy, play choochoo."  I said WHY?  He just gave me a dumb stare. ;D

Man, I miss my kids being young like that.  When they turned six it was a complete turnaround.  Now at seven it's no longer, "Why?"  Now they think they know everything.

Then you'll have to be deal with him coming out of the closet, eventually leading yourself to ask "WHY!?"

;D

LOL....Mine is just entering that phase...

Everytime i ask him to do something like picking up his toys I get the answer "No" now. I miss the answer "why" because at least i could explain why i was telling him something.

"What's your favorite word, and why?"

"My favorite word is 'why'. The word never ends. That's what I like about it. Like, my uncle told me that

I was gonna come back in here. And I was just, like, 'Why?' And he would say, 'Well, because blah blah blah blah.' And I said, 'Why? And he said... 'Well, because this and this and that.' You know? It's just...there's no answer. I think it's a fun word."

"Yeah, when used properly...and I bet you get a lot of mileage out of that."

"It's always used properly."

"Why?"

"F--k you."

who can tell me what movie?? :)

You can always use the old tried and true response when they can no longer provide a reasonable answer that will never satisy a child.

"Because I said so."
