I swear, you can always count on pickerel.  I went out today to the exact same spot I caught 5 bass and 1 crappie in under an hour the other day.  Today, I couldn't buy a bass bite.  All I got were pickerel.  They'll eat anything. I love 'em!

Nitro you just haven't found the right water yet. Luck has nothing to do with it.  Sometimes you'll wish the lil buggers weren't there.

The last time I hooked a Chain Pickrel was on Lake Gaston and he got to the boat, took one look at me, and cut the line with his teeth.

But it was fun getting him to the boat.

And he as a big one, too. I would say almost 2 and a half feet long.  

Never caught a pickeral but, I've caught pike.  At least you didn't get skunked...

i like fighting pickerel, but the'yre certainly not the adorable lip easy bass.  I hate getting near those dam teeth, but they do put up a hell of a fight

I can think of three reasons off the top of my head.

• They have low status. Even though they fight better, I have a much higher degree of satisfaction when catching a bass

• I've never fished a tournament, but they've got to be monstrous annoyance to those guys

• Biteoffs

Man, at Lake Murray all I have to do is find a calm cove with channels and tie on a  # 11 Husky Jerk to catch Chain Pickerel.  They are about the best fighting freshwater fish out there.
