Blue catfish ROCK!

You know, you can catch more convenient sized cats, if you try.

There is no way on earth I could land that catfish and somehow set up a camera and take a decent picture FROM A KAYAK!

You have much skill. :)

Man, that's quite a fish!

8-)

awwwwww man that is just NASTY.  Yea I'm thinking i'm going to try and hit up both runs on the potomac and james..  are you fly fishing off the yak??? or off the bank-  I'm defintiely interested in trying out the fly..  If you got a spare I can have :P that would be great hehehe

On the yak, bank is too crowded and too many things to snag on during the false (back) cast. I've only got one, but we can switch back and forth. They'll hit spoons and darts too on a spinning rod. I even caught some trolling a spoon. You gotta make it. It's some of the easiest and fun fishing trips. It's 5 minutes from my house!  Nice avatar by the way :o

So very true, it's not uncommon to catch one every single cast during the peak. They fight hard too!

Great fish and outstanding Yak setup.

Nice fish Rob!  ;)

Nice fishing rig, too, Robchoi.  I'm curious as to how you dress when you kayak fish when the water is cold.  I can't tell what you are wearing.  Is that a dry suit?

That is one nice catfish!!  I can not imagine catching one from a kayak.  way to go!

that's a biggun! like the yak too!

Thanks.  Micro, yeah, I do have on a dry top.  UnderArmor as base layer, then wool sweater.  Then dry top, then wind breaker.  Waders and pfd.  I know a guy down in VAbeach who tested the drytop with waders, with pdf in his pool and said you hardly get any water getting through.  It's crucial, because hypothermia is so fast.

Ya the pdf will compress against your body when you're in the water keeping it from runing down into the waders.

Heya Rob last time we went yaking (we gotta do that again sometime) you mentioned that your wife was about to give birth! How's your wife and the baby doing? =D

Thank you.  Yeah, it was a helluva fight.  It was on light tackle and took me almost half and hour.  Simon, yeah, we will do it again, and I'll get you on some kitties too.  The wife and daughter "Natalie" are doing great.  She's growing so fast!  Thanks.

Nice fish! I LOVE the kayak setup.
