Zoom trick worm and hook size

Featured Replies

What size hook do you guys recommend for the Zoom trick worm? I just bought some and was surprised how skinny they are. Thanks.

Mustad 2/0 Straight Shank Denny Brauer Flipping Hook  ;)

For me it depends on the potential largest bass likely to be caught when rigging it Tx style. I use anywhere from 3/0 to 5/0 in the Gammy offset round bend. For weedless wacky rigging, I use a 3/0 Octopus hook

I use Gamakatsu 2/0 EWG's for T-Rigging.

I use Gammy EWG's, anywhere from 2/0-4/0 depending on what I'm trying to do.

Smaller hook for more subtle finesse presentations, bigger hook to add a bit of weight so I can throw it weightless.

Can't really go wrong with 3/0 ;)

Man thee are some serious hooks for a finesse bait, I use a 2/0 or 3/0 sprout regular worm hook. Texas style with a 1/32 ounce screw in weight.

Mustad straight shank 1/0 or 2/0. there is no reason to fish a wide gap hook on a trick worm. A straight shank will allow a more direct pull through the worm than any wide gap hook. Larry Nixon and a lot of the other pros have made a great living fishing the straight shank hook.

I usually go with a Gamakatsu 3/0 EWG, that's about all I own.

I usually rig them with the same 3/0 wide gap hooks that I use for just about everything.

For weedless fishing i use anywhere from a 2/0 - 4/0 Gammy EWG.  For Wacky rigging I use a 1/0 circle hook.

I typically use Mustad UltraPoint Wide Gap hooks T-rigged with no weight.  I "Tex-pose" the hook by bringing it all the way thru the worm and then slipping the point just under the skin and I've been really successful with it.  Usually a 1/0 or 2/0, depending on how fast I want it to sink.  Hooks bigger than 2/0 tend to affect the action as it sinks, in my opinion.

1/0 hooks work, but the problem I've seen is 1/0's in general have a tendency to bend some, especially on bigger bass, which can result in fish shaking lose.  Therefore, I use quality 2/0's with trick worms.  Quality meaning Owner hooks and such which are little thicker than the cheapest brand.
