I've been fishing all through out the summer and used various lures . .. but now im noticing the bite is slowing down! ... A lot.. what lure(s) are you guys having most luck on to catch the bigger bass? i've seen lipless crank baits working well..

I like using cranks with a shad pattern or in chartreuse, zara apook jr, magII, and other plastics.

You may want to check out the articles at the top of the page. I have found them to be very helpful.

Good luck!!

I agree with you Lampi. Every year I say "This year has slowed down more than ususal" lol. Its probably nit true but it does slow this time of year. I just try to figure out what the food source in your pond or area is doing. I know this is the clique answer but if you just think about it it really makes sence. Think what hatched in the spring and has had 4 or more months to grow. Weather it's shad or sunfish try to replicate their size and color. I honestly believe in mid to large size swim baits as some of the members here have proven with their photos. I like useing Strike Kings "King Shad" as its not a 40 or 50 dollars lure, it goes for $20, but acts ALMOST as good. I also like the Bass Magic swimbaits and YUM's Money Minnow$. Keep in mind though, you don't seem to get as many bites but when you do more than half the time they are Biggins! I also like crankbaits, spinnerbaits and larger plastics in that order. I honestly think the trick is more in finding the LOCATION rather than finding the LURE. I am by no means a pro understand, and dont claim to be. I have been fishing for over 30 years, the last 10 much more seriously, and I swear to you I feel like I know very little but I just keep PLUGGING away, Pun intended lol. Good luck!

Crankbaits are my number one fall producer. Spinnerbaits and jig/pig are also at the top of my list. I like the DT series by rapala, olive shad and parrot are probally my favorites. I like a Eakins Jig w/ a GY flappin Hog II Trailer. Green pumpkin mostly.

I don't necessarily believe it's the lure you are using, more than where you are using it. Bass fishing has always been about location. The Fall period is no exception. Find the food....find the bass. They have to eat - they have no decision making skills to say, "oh, it's fall, time to feed less - or more". If a meal is presented to them, in the location they are in, they will strike. I've said it before and I'll say it again, it's not their choice not to feed, regardless of what season it is. If you are using an appropriate presentation, in the correct location, you will get bit.

Where I fish at, I haven't had much luck with anything but my small, shad colored, (deep-diving) crankbait. I have tried other colors, sizes, and types of lures and haven't been able to land any fish on anything else. I had a couple big bites with Smoke w/ Blue Flake 5" senko's, but was never able to hook them. Those have been pretty rare though.

forage is big in the fall. i tend to use larger baitfish imitators...

what he said... during the early spring of the year, i use small rapala or lc jerkbaits in shallow water and as the season progresses, the fish start to move out to the first drop... the bait fish also start to get bigger and by the time fall comes along, i am using big baits. this applies to match the hatch.

It's power-fishing time for me. Jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, and traps when the wind is howling, and flukes when it isn't. And the super shallow jig bite turns back on.

shallow cranks and spinnerbaits mostly in shad colors though for muddy water go to a brighter firetiger like color.  some say you should always use a firetiger or chartruese colored spinnerbait or crankbait to stand out from the other shad.  do whichever one you have more confidence in. I personally prefer natural colors.
