Many thanks to the Headless Bassman!

Featured Replies

A couple of weeks ago while planning a family vacation to Orlando, I asked the Orlando guys for tips on places I could shore fish. I got a lot of good suggestions, which I expected, and one very unexpected offer from BadHabit (aka the Headless Bassman / Dave) to join him on his boat one morning.  I've seen the size of the fish Dave catches, and I jumped at the chance fish out of the back of his boat!

The weather was great when we launched,  and he took me to all of his best spots on one of Florida's best big bass lakes.  I used Dave's gear, Dave's bait, and Dave's advice, and we caught fish at a steady clip throughout the day.  Dave did everything in his power to get me a big ole' 8 pound Florida largemouth, but it just wasn't meant to be. (although I did have a BIG fish hit n miss right at the side of the boat). I really had a blast and hope I can return the favor to any BR members who might find themselves passing through Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Thanks again BadHabit for a great outing!

P.S. He also taught me a GREAT trick for making senkos last about 5 times longer than normal!

nice post sounds like you had a great time. But what was the trick ;)

I don't think BadHabit would mind me sharing. Start with a Mister Twister Keeper hook as shown below

Then you remove the straight barb and replace is with a hitchhiker shown below.

Our hook-up ratio was outstanding with this rig, and the Senkos lasted a long time.

Thanks for the kind words Dan and I also had a Great time. Maybe on your next trip we can get you some bigger than 3 or 4 lbs. :)

I'm glad to see you made it home safe,

Dave

The reason I like the 5/0 Mister Twister hooks (actually Timistall's idea to add the hitch hiker) is that they have the best angle out of all of the hooks I have tried or seen for a perfect senko hook set.

If you try them your hook ratio will go way up.

;)

Well done BH.

Hi all,

The two other people I fish with a lot (tennsopher & Timistall) would probably had made sure he got out somewhere if I hadn't and both called to make sure that Dan had a good time.

There are a lot of down to Earth Great people on this site that are willing to share with no alterior motives. To me and them this is just how we were raised. The "pay-it-forward" principal is just being human and part of showing respect to others that all of us deserve.

Daniel My Brother (Dan) is a Great guy to fish with with and if you do get around his area look him up, you will have an enjoyable day.

I wish everyone all the best,

Dave ;)

Sounds like a great day! Nothing better then catching fish, and meeting another fellow bass fisher!

That's kickin'!!

great reportback.

Kudos for sharing the wealth Badhabit!!!

Makes me wish I had found this place a long time ago.  We used to go to Daytona every July for the race and I allways wanted to try and do some Florida bassin' but never got to.  I know I would have if I had been on here, we haven't gone the past 2 years but am considering going back next year.
