Son's first bass

Featured Replies

The Mrs. was out with a friend and my daughter was at a birthday party so my son and I went out in the canoe for a couple of hours this evening hoping to catch a few fish. He's a pro at catching blue gills on crawlers but today I was able to convince him that he needed to try some of daddy's plastic worms so he could catch "big" fish. He and his Spider Man pole had quite a few bites with a senko tied on and after losing three good bites (one made it all the way to the canoe before shaking lose) he landed his first bass! The look on his face was priceless. I also had continued success on a jig which has recently become my favorite lure.

What an awesome day!

Avid's right.  Thatt's what it's all about.  I still remember catching my first bass with my dad, something I'll never forget.

What's the length, action and power of that spidey rod?  Quite a few nice fish being caught on those this year!!  :)

Looks like you will never need to fish alone again, great job!

That's cool, there's nothing like seeing them catch their first bass.  Hopefully he will share your excitement and catch many more fish for years to come!!!!

Congrats! I am teaching my four year old daughter to fish and she is becoming a maniac. She meeting me every morning with either let's go fishing or let's watch fishing. I am learning patience slowly but surely. I don't get to fish as much as I like but the payoff will be in a few years. I will have a fishing companion since her mom acts like she is allergic to fish!
