Silver Lake:  Possibly my best bass yet!

Featured Replies

My friend and I decided to give a new lake a shot yesterday. It was 45 degrees and windy with a bluebird sky. I had never fished the lake before so I tied on a firetiger Rattlin' Rapala as my go-to fishfinder. On the second cast I horsed in a lil 1 pounder. Not a bad start to the day on the new lake. Two casts later, I was workin the trap along a rocky shore and was about to lift it out of the water when a very nice lookin she-bass boiled on it. My friend and I were ecstatic as played in and lipped a 6 pounder. The digi read 5.9 and we snapped a few photos and released it. We were unsuccessful in a small cove we tried so we moved over to a dock on a rocky shore. I cast the trap right to the dock and it got whacked about 10 or 15 feet out. I knew it was a good fish and my friend and I started wooping when we saw it surface... IT WAS HUGE! I played it in carefully, it was barely hooked in the top lip. I couldn't stop laughing and hollering when I finally lipped that big mamma. I probably could have fit both fists in her mouth. The digi read 9.0 and we snapped a few pics of the bucketmouth and released it... the rest of the day was a lil slow, only producing a few 1's and a 3, but it was a great day, especially for a new lake.
