What colors of jigs should I be buying??

Featured Replies

greens, browns and black/blue jigs are my favorites. My choice depends on water color more then anything else.

Exact colors I use....x2

Any color is fine as long as it is black.

I've hear this before.......

I stick to black&blue for stained water and brown for clearer water.

black w/ blue fleck and green Pumpkin for trailers.

The best advice I have taken about  jig fishing is "when in doubt, set the hook."

hook sets are free, I have hooked tons of fish that I was not sure about.

I also haul a lot of water ;)

Black, Brown, Green, Orange, and White is all you need.

I have a few white ones, but I've never used them. Under what conditions are they good?

Clear.

black,black blue,brown,watermelon,pb&j.

my favorite is all black jig with a zoom creepy crawler tail watermelon/red.

Rooster, I agree with most all of the above info on colors being Green Pumpkin, Browns and black are the basic colors necessary to be successful. And yes I have found times when white was the key but not as often as the others for sure.

I will use my trailers to add the color variety to my jigs. Gr Pu blue, Gr Pu chartreuse, Watermelon red, black neon (red flake).

But if I had to choose one color swing with it would be Green Pumpkin jig and trailer typical to avatar. Hard to go wrong with greens and browns regardless of the water clarity and daylight conditions.

Good luck with your jig'n feats, you'll be glad you made the jump.

Well, after almost four pages, something seems clear:

The "best" color is the one you like!

I like some kind of green with black flakes for all baits/ lures

most of the time. With jigs, if it's not "green" it's black & blue.

8-)

I use all kinds of shades of Green Pumpkin and a little brown.  Plus the old famous Black and Blue.
