My favorite fishing spot is a small pond (probably about 200 acres)  that is about 5 miles from home. It is a dammed up stream which holds LM bass as well as brown trout.  I can fish it from my kayak or small aluminum boat, and quite often have it all to myself.  Favorite time is right at daybreak when the water is like a mirror, and every thing is very quiet.  What a relaxing time!

Do any of you have a favorite spot?

My favorite is also a small pond.  Except mine is only about 5 acres.  It's a small cattle farm pond on a friends property.  I like it because 99% of the time I catch bass(read SKUNKED to find out about the other 1%).  I go there to try out new lures i bought or some techniques that I am not completely comfortable with.  I also like this spot because I can take my three year old daughter with me and she can catch some bluegill or some small mudcats and she has the time of her life.  After all that's what it's all about; Friends and Family.

I have a lake that is about 60 miles from my house that would be my favorite. I like it the best because it can be a hard lake to fish and other times can be mind blowing. I like the fact that it has all kinds of different stuff to fish. I like that i am not limited to what i can throw and can fish deep or shallow to catch fish. The lake has a ton of 4 to 6 lb bass in it.

Hmmmmmmm, Mainer Palermo..... 5 acres..... not far away. Now where is my Gazetteer????? No I wouldn't do that. At least not today. I don't know if I have a favorite but I had a great time on all of the following: Harlow, Big Indian, Unity, Sebasticook, Stetson, Indian Pond the Forks, Webber, Tacoma, Silver, Upper Ebemee, Plymouth Pond and Phillips. Most years I would add Great Moose, Messalonskee, Great Pond, China, Cobbossee. Cobbossee Long Pond Stream, Wassokeag, Wesserunsett, Corundell Bog, Toddy  and Megunticook. But I either didn't get to fish them this year or can't say I did real well. Of course I fish 2 clubs and some opens so I get out on more water than some, and as I fish more moe now with my grandson (even as a partner in tourneys, not every one has a 6 year old partner) I have a warm spot for every place he has done well and that has added to the list this year or that I got to fish with my son or friends on. Hmmmmmm 200 acres you say......

Mainer,

I also fish from a kayak in a 36 acre lake across the street from home.  Quick and easy to fish before or after work.  Max depth 8'. Largest catch 4-8 Largemouth.  Bartlett Lake AZ is a great place to take the other boat when I have more time.  It's 51 miles away

It's all good. I've fished in just about every state in the lower 48, but if the wind and weather are in one's favor, it's hard to beat Erie and Champlain for big waters. Closeby, in the Ozarks, it's hard to get much solitude if that's important, unless I'm on a float stream in the dead of winter. Just the eagles and me and the big smallies warming my cockles. ;)

Nick, You must be within a few hours drive to Bull Shoals.  It's a huge, clearwater reservoir with very little pressure even during holidays.  Both Missouri and Arkansas state record largemouth were caught on this lake.  I think it also boasts AR state record smallmouth  and white bass.   There is a very good chance the next world record walley will be caught here, too.  It's a beautiful lake but hard to fish without a guide- over 1000 miles of shoreline and every inch looks great!  If you have the time, trout fishing below the dam is probably the finest you'll find anywhere and you have the opportunity to catch the next world record brown trout and/or rainbow trout.  Hard to believe but true, check it out.

I'll tell you guys, a few years ago I was planning on moving to MO, my family has since settled on Florida. I was there in '02 in October and destroyed the bass on Stockton Res. and a few smaller ponds. Beautiful state. I was in Buffalo and I love Lambert's!!

Hmm good question but it's really hard to choose.. I love Lake Erie, but my favourite spot is probably any of the Canadian Shield lakes. Gotta love the rocky, open atmosphere of the near north and the calm fertility of the lakes, not to mention usually being alone or not hearing the passing of cars at night, just seeing stars and hearing nature!

For Road Warrior,

Bull Shoals is just beginning a comeback after several years of unproductive spawns. Most like it especially at night.  Furthermore, the Arkansas Fish and Game planted some monster brush piles and they hold fish often.  The state record that you refer to was caught in 1961,  The bass have shrunk a bit since then. You could check out what weights have been brought in in tournamnets down there at hpata.com the last couple of years.  A limit is not easy.  It is a beautiful lake, though. and the least crowded of our Ozarks lakes.  The Walleye Trail will again be fishing it this spring because the walleye pop. is going pretty good.

For Earthworm,

Yes, Lambert's is close to heaven, no doubt. One in Sikeston, MO, one in Alabama, and the one south of Springfield. Best down home cookin' this side of mom's.

Stockton Lake has its good days and others. Last year the huge Mother's Day tornado outbreak just about leveled the main part of town, and unfortunately, because the motel rooms are scarce, I haven't fished in larger tournaments there (this was true even before the storms).  In the '70's, I lived about an hour away, and the fishing was pretty phenomenal.  Tournament weights for this lake are posted at mwbt.com     Even if you aren't into tournaments, the results will give an indication of the size and numbers being caught.  Thanks.

My favorite spot of all time has to be the St. Croix River, right below the dam in Taylors Falls, MN. The river is fast here and the terrain is nothing but rocks. Here you will find yourself snagging left and right, but at the same time, you are surrounded by smallmouth bass, walleye, and numerous other game and non game fish, creating the ultimate fishing scenario.

I live in Northern California and my favorite lake to fish is Clear Lake. I am less than five minues from the lake, it's called and known as "The Bass Capital Of The West". This lake fishes really good considering all the pressure it gets from all the other fisherman.

Maybe we need to start a new thread just about Lambert's. ;D I re-located from Branson MO to Nashvegas, oops I mean Nashville, TN a few years back and I sure miss Table Rock, Bull Shoals and Lambert's. Just to stay on subject though, Favorite Location: Anywhere I have a rod and reel in my hands but mostly KY Lake or Barkley.

15 acre private watershed lake in North Texas, near the LBJ grasslands.  The biggest bass I've taken there was 6.6 and I've taken a couple of 6's and 5's as well.  I can't wait for the spawn this year.  I also enjoy taking my 6 year old.  My wife and I get a kick out of seeing a trail of Nutter Butter cookies floating behind the jonboat.  She eats the Peanut Butter and throws the cookies in the water (her idea of chumming) She loves to catch fish, but when they don't bite well, she LOVES to snack.  ::)
