what seem to be the best replacement hooks for crankbaits,i usually don't have much of a problem losing fish on crankbaits but last summer i lost a few on a rapala dt 12...had some decent fish on for a few seconds,then gone..i was thinking of buying some of the david fritz treble hooks with the wide bend....

I have heard the Daiichi death traps are the best, but they run about $1 per hook.  I personally use Owner trebles on my crankbaits

Mustad Triple Grip...make sure you get the short or extra short shank, otherwise they may tangle up.  Sometimes they're hard to find though...

VMC Vanadium when you can find them.

My vote is for the Mustad Triple Grips!  Fish just can't throw 'em like standard round bends.  Use em an watch you bite to land ratio go way up on cranks.

Another vote for VMC. Not only are they awesome, they are among the best bang for the buck. 25 trebels for about $5. No other company comes close.

With that said, I also love Mustad's triple grips.

Sorry you lost fish on the DT. Rapala's cranks come stock with VMC hooks so that is puzzling.

Ok ill be blunt here but if your losing fish on a crankbait 9 out of 10 times it aint ur hooks . ITS US ....By nature a crankbait is a bad lure for keepin fish hooked anyhow sooo easy to throw and if u aint using a med or med light action rod with a soft tip you have made it even easier for um to throw a bait.I have seen people fishing crankbaits and hookup a lot but not land 95% of them they blame hooks and while watching them i see a flaw even i do sometimes i dont let the fish get time to realllly hookitself i try horsing it in and usally the first jump its gone i think more important is hook sharpness more so then brand but also on another note diff brands are sharper then others

Can't go wrong with Triple Grips.  Been using them for a while and find they do help land more bass on crankbaits.

I've heard very mixed reviews on the Triple Grips.  I picked up some Owners and Gammies, I like the Owners better but they're both great.  

I've blunted and bent out VMC hooks on wood, rocks, etc...bent a treble straight on 12lb. mono.  I switched all my VMC hooks to Owners about a week ago.
