For me, early in the morning I would have to go with a popper.  Late morning I like a spinnerbait.  After that I usually go to a worm texas rigged or a black and blue jig with a junebug trailer.  When I go to my local lake for a typical day a fishing those are my most productive baits day in and day out.

lunker lure buzzbait-nothing fancy just catches fish

Pro model jig/rattleback jig-I like the flat eye

zoom products

senko/kreature bait-the kreature when rigged backwards displaces more water also a great clearwater drop bait.

culprit-just an old stand by

Shad Assassin-like the fluke great jerkbait but the tail swims on the fall

strikeking tube- I like it because you can use it with or without a weight the solid head helps weight it

Tube lizard-has more bulk and has a slower fall

paddle tail worm- i like to swim these or hop them when the tail starts it has a thump that draws fish

Paca Craw- Its a tube craw worm with arms shaped like a zoom super chunk and flap on the fall(good flip bait)

strike king cyberflex jig trailers-good stuff

Snapback tubes- it floats and you can counter balance it to really slow the fall.

Someone asked what I used so there is the list and why. Cover an situation determines when and where I use them.

Chris, It's nice to see you do have a tackle box with lures in it. (after seeing your "don't catch" list) LOL

For me the Texas Rigged plastic worm (plum in stained water and watermelon seed in clearer water) has produced more bass for me than anything else.

If I couldn't have that I'd fish a Chrome/blue Rat-l-trap.

Glass_Man!  That would have been my post but I don't think that's what this forum's about. I fish artificials exclusively for largemouth and have some success, but I have never caught a smallmouth over 5 lbs on anything but live shiners. Starting tomorrow and throughout the spring I'm going to devote a couple of hours on every trip to artificials: jigs, tubes & grubs, maybe even jerkbaits and top water.  It's an experiment.

Jigs

Tubes

Salty Stickbaits...I make my own, the FatZilla

Spinnerbaits

Spinnerbaits and creature baits. I think the creature baits scare the small fish so the big fish try to couragess and kill the creature bait. LOL

Chris do you fish or tie knots all day?

Rapala minnow. It might not catch big fish, but it will always catch something.

I guess I should word it like this no matter what condition or time of year or location I can trust that one of those lures on my list will catch fish. I can fish a lake and kill them on a bandit. Go back the next day on the same lake and never get a bump on a bandit then switch to a norman bait and knock them silly. I have a general idea what they are going to bite on before I make a cast and I have back up stuff if things change. In a tournament or even when I fish for fun I narrow down to maybe 3 lures. But the 3 lures are going to change from day to day but they will always be from that list. Cover, depth, water color, where the fish are relating determines what I am going to throw.

Chris, with all that tackle, where do you sit in your boat? ;D

My all time faithfull lure is the baby torpedo.  Then a purple finesse worm.  This year might change to the Goby baits.

Squid,

Goby baits?  What are they?  Is that "short" for something? ???
