Which do you prefer to catch

Featured Replies

Smallmouth for me, however I've never caught a peacock bass before. I hear they are great on topwater lures.

L.D.

I voted smallmouth, but if I ever get the chance to go for peacock bass I may have to change my vote.

i voted for smallmouth as that's what i have to fish for most of the time unless i travel quite a way to go for largemouths.   trfishin

PEACOCKS ALL THE WAY!!! I catch peacocks in the canals of melbourne and west palm in Florida, the way they smash a topwater bait and fight until the very end is simply amazing.

River smallies, which is what I do best.  3lb. smallmouth, 6lb. line.....Oh yea!    I love fishing for Largemouth too though.

I voted for Largemouth, simply because around me that's what is the most accessible fish to catch. I get the feeling once I hook into my first Smallie they will quickly change my mind.

I voted for the smallmouth, only cause I have yet to fight with the Peacock Bass.  That is my goal in life....to go there and catch a 20#'r and fight it for a while.... :D

There isn't a whole lot of places around me for small and spots, so I usually go after largemouth.

I agree...they are all fun to catch. I will fish for whatever species of bass seem to be biting.

smallmouth,

They hit hard, fight hard and are excellent at throwing the hook.

I would hate to limit myself to only one type.  I like both Smallies and Largemouth! ;D  A big pike now and then is fun too! ::)

I had to pick smallies. There is nothing like a smallie slamming your lure and trying to drag you down the river with him!! Largemouth run a close second in my book but for my money nothing beats the smallmouth for pure fighting ability. (at least out of the species that I have caught).

May your line never break on a big fish

I voted for smallmouth, but I actually spend more time fishing for stripers. Whenever I have the option, I will always fish for smallies vs. largemouth or spots. I tend to catch a lot of largemouth and spots fishing for smallmouth, but it rarely (never) works the other way around.

Smallmouth fight harder, but I like the largemouth for its size. Stripers are big, and fight hard, but they are so hard to catch.
