Try 100 lb braid and see if that helps.

When you have a big bass on, or any bass for that matter, maintain pressure on the fish: NEVER give her any slack. Take your time, but bring the fish to you. If it's not pulling drag, it should ALWAYS be moving your way.

Keep trying, you might get it!

That's why this sport is called fishing and not catching   :

Head up, keep chunking, and reeling  

If the bass goes for a jump, keep pressure on it, and reel down.  Also, don't point your rod tip directly at the bass.
