What equipment do you guys use for the wacky rig? Spinning or baitcasting, size & type line, which worm, hooks by size/type, and do you use the rubber o-ring or other type "re-inforcement" to extend life of the worm. Have never tried this technique so please be specific. Once again, thanks for everyones help.

I use spinning equipment with 8lb fluorocarbon.  I use an o-ring on my worms with circle hooks.  I mainly use *** from *.com to wacky rig with.

I personally use the o ring with the o ring tool as it takes a matter of seconds to rig another bait if needed and definetely prolongs the life of the bait.

I mostly wacky rig a Senko with a #1 or 1/0 Gamakatsu Finesse Wide Gap hook on a St. Croix Legend Elite 6'6" Medium Fast rod spooled with 6-10 pound line depend upon the body of water and structure.

Wacky rigging is one of my favorite techniques. I use spinning gear with 15# braid.  I have not used baits other than the senko, but plan on trying a few others this season.  For hooks I use gamagatsu EWG hooks size 1/0 to 3/0.  Where I fish (NH) getting snagged on rocks and other structure on the bottom can become a problem, so I began to use hoks with a wire weedguard.  They work well and prevent a lot of frustration. O-rings are a must, they will save you a lot of money.   Good luck, I'm sure you will love wacky rigging.

I prefer these gamakatsu hooks with the original senko, Yum Dingers, ***, and I'm experimenting with the ocho. I use spinning gear with 6-8 pound line. I like a 7'M action rod with some tip to it. My wacky rig is a 7'M American Rodsmith Titanium with an Abu Garcia 702 reel.

I use Abu Garcia Revo STX-L-HS(this year), 7.5ft MH fast rod, 10 or 12lb fluorocarbon, weedless owner or gamakatsu finesse hook, *** Trick stick.

4" & 5" senkos with 1/0 gamakatsu finesse ewg hooks for the 4" & 3/0 for the 5".  I fish both with the o-rings and without.  6'6" mh G. Loomis 783 IMX rod or 7' mh G. Loomis 843 IMX rod with 8# fluorocarbon line.

I'll wacky rig a wide varity of baits, Senko's in all sizes, finnesse worms, and trick worms mostly. For 3" and 4" senko's and smaller finesse worms I like the Gamakatsu #1 wide gap weedledd finesse hooks. For trickworms, and 5" senkos the same hook in 2/0. One hook I fell in love with last year was the Falcon Lures K-wacky hook, it's a weedless 3/0 gamakatsu shiner hook with a weight molded to the shank. I like the 1/16 oz size generaly and it covers a wide range of options. It pulls the worm down faster, but not to fast, in deeper situations, and is excellant for pitching a wacky rigged bait into weed pockets.

I'll fish the smaller wroms in clear water on a 7' ML spinning rod w/6lb fluorocarbon line around very spares cover or open water.

My general purpose wacky rigging rod is a 7' M spinning rod with 8lb fluorocarbon, and when I am fishing the bigger worms or pitching to holes inthe weeds I step up to a 7' MH casting rod, w/ 30 lb braid iffishing in the weeds, or 12 lb Flurocarbon on the weed edge.

6' 6" MH graphite rod.

Shimano 200 Curado.

8 pound flouro line.

1/0 or 2/0 weedless Gamukatsu Worm Hook.

3/8-inch Polyoefin Heat Shrink Tubing cut in 1/4 inch sections to go around Senko.

Heat tubing with disposable gas lighter, like the ones you light charcoal.

Remember, you can put any plastic on a Wacky Rig, including a creature bait, a lizard, a finesse worm, etc.

Ive never tried wacky, however with spawn this year im gonna throw it. Most plastic I throw is a tube!

Spinning tackle with 8lb flourocarbon, an o-ring, and a Gamakatsu EWG weedless 2/0 hook, and weightless if the wind and current permit.

The hook is rather small but they released 3/0, 4/0, 5/0, and 6/0 this year.  They're just impossible to find.

When using the"o" ring or shrink tubing, do you place the whole hook, through or the shank through the o ring, can somebody post a pic?

I will hook both the worm and the oring depending on my fishing style.  

When I hook the oring the worm falls with a slight "V" shape from teh tension the oring being hooked puts on it.  I will use this when I am getting hits on the retrieve.  I think (only my thoughts) that it resembles a craw fish or something weird due to the action it causes when jerking the bait in the retrieve.  I'll normally fish this by letting it fall and jerking it back to the boat.

When I hook the worm and oring both, it tends to hold the worm straight on the drop and creates a slow "falling leaf" drop.  That works great for me just outside of bushes if I am trying to temp them to come out and check it out.  With this method I will just hook and throw and when I hit the bottom I will retreive quickjly and throw it again.
