lawnmowers, power equipment and bass

Featured Replies

i like to fish docks on a high pressured lake.   when homewoners are operating lawn equipment, chainsaws, circular saws, etc how do you find the noise effects bass on an already high pressured lake with pleasure boaters and homes all around it?  what is your rule of thumb when its too noisey to move elsewhere?

Now that 's an excellent answer.

I don't think it makes much difference to the bass .... move on when it annoys you !!!

I think bass who live in high traffic areas are used to the noise, which works in your favor because if you make a sudden noise, you won't spook them.

I think the fish are used to the noise. I live less than one mile from an Air Force base, with F-16's, A-10's, and KC-135's flying around all day. It hasn't bothered the fish so far.

I fish a lake that gets a lot of pressure from skiers and jet-ski's. Many of these people are extremely inconsiderate of anyone fishing, insisting on going by creating large wakes while I'm trying to maneuver around with an electric motor, or at anchor trying to fish. This used to irritate me considerably until I realized that I was catching more fish as a result of them stirring up the water and washing baitfish and crawfish loose from their hiding places. I've noticed this particularly on sandbars. Sometimes, the noise and commotion can be to your advantage.

Tell me about it. I fish ON an Air Force Base with the gun range about a 1/4 mile away and the flightline about a 1/2 mile away. M-16s, M-60s, M-9s, grenade launchers, B-2s, A-10s, helicopters, training jets, engine tests... It gets LOUD out there.

The fish don't mind though.
