Never heard that.  I wouldn't think he would be as popular as he is if it were true though.

I have never heard that, either.   >:(

You want I should ask him?  Not set in stone yet but I may get to share a boat with him later this month.  I went to high school with a buddy who lives outside Memphis and knows him pretty well and we have a trip scheduled for the Monday after Easter.  I think that would make a pretty good ice breaker....So Bill, tell me, ever been caught cheating? ;D

When will this sort of stuff ever end, guess people are getting tired of bashing Iconelli, so now it's Mr.Dance's turn >:(

what do they say about iconelli???

Bill Dance has never been accused of cheating, let alone "caught".

As for bashing pro anglers - that's not what this site is about.  Let's keep it positive and focus on the great things this sport is about.  If you like a certain angler, then let's hear and why.  If you don't like one, then keep it to yourself.  :-X

OK Glenn here it is---

Bill Dance is my favorite for being entertaining. His bloopers are fantastic with my all time favorite being when the snake landed in his lap.

How do I get a back seat in his boat???

Forgive me if I am speaking out of turn, but I don't believe anyone bashed Bill Dance.  It was a question not a statement.  Maybe he had heard that this was the case.  If so, I believe that it is good that the question was asked if anyone knew the facts before MidSouth Angler ran around spouting untruths.  I would doubt that Mr. Dance was ever caught cheating just based on what I know about his character but if the statement is out there about someone who is in the public eye such as Bill Dance it is fair to ask if anyone has heard the same thing and if so for some proof.  I also believe that most of us on here interpret it as what it is and will not just read the post and decide that an icon is a cheater.

Well said.  I know I felt also that is was a question being posed and not an attempt to bash Bill Dance.

I tend to agree with Glenn on this matter (though I don't entirely disagree with you).  The problem with the original question, though certainly innocent in motive, is that rumors are so easy started.  I don't believe in suppressing freedom of speech (at least not usually) but when even the suggestion of impropriety occurs, then things tend to take off like a wildfire.  I like that this forum remains positive.

I tend to agree that the positive nature of this forum is a pleasant change from most others. I just didn't think that the intent of the original post was to start a rumor but merely to ask if something that he had heard was the truth. I admire Mid-South for seeking the truth before starting a rumor. I also may or may not agree with some of the things said on here but I will fight to the death for your right to say them.

I don't disagree with Glen in the sense that this forum should remain positive.  I just didn't think anyone attempted to bash Mr. Dance.  This is by far the best forum I have ever been on and that is a direct credit to Glen and the rest of the Mods as well as some of the Long Time Posters.

Bill Dance is not a cheater.  He does fish in a tiny pond loaded with his 8-pound pets though which I believe takes some credibility from his show......but then again it is a different show for a different audiance then say Day on the Lake or Bass Pros.

How could anyone bash him.....he's hilarious.

Who cares? Cant we all just get along

5lbBluegill for President!  ;D

I've never heard anything about him cheating, and I severely doubt that it happened.  But, anything is possible.

I think we pretty much covered that he is not a cheater.  I don't think were he fishes matters or effects his credibility.  He still has to catch em'

If anyone something bad about one of your hero's, take'em fish'in and leave'em at the ramp. Let'em walk home, they'll get the message. Now that's enough, let's go fish'in.

The poster has posted about 5 times in the past year.

His first post since January is asking whether Bill Dance is a cheater.

::)

Let's see...

Bill has been involved in some form with the profession and or business of bass angling for 40 years.

He's had his own TV show for around 35 of those.

He's got a bunch of high paying sponsors who pay him a dear amount of money for his name to endorse their products.

How much would Mr. Dance get if he had ever been caught cheating?

Would Mr. Dance even have a TV show today if he had ever been caught cheating?

Incredibly stupid question really.

06/06/1967 Ray Scott conducts the All-American Bass Tournament on Beaver Lake, Ark.

This tournament was 41 years ago & one of the participants was Bill Dance; in this time frame I've never heard anyone ever question Bill's integrity.

I've watched that man for over 25 years and have never heard anything and because of him, I bought my first baitcaster from Wal-Mart when I was about 14 or 15. I took it back after about 2 weeks because I couldn't get the hang of it. He is a hero to me and probably the reason why I love bassfishing. I think it was called a spidercast or something. I would hate to hear anything bad about him.

Your right about this.

Fishing in a private lake stocked with lunkers that are easy to catch misrepresents the reality of what real life fishing is.  It is not "cheating" per se, but it does tilt the balance of the fishing scale towards the angler.

I would also say that Dance has done a ton of shows out on lakes where the rest of us fish, so maybe in his older age he deserves a set up.

You are kidding right?  It doesn't matter what lake he fishes on.  He still has to catch em'
