Guys, I have only been bass fishing seriously for about a year, but I have come a long way. Now I am at that stage where I want to expand my knowledge and learn more than just the rudimentary stuff. I hear guys talk about power fishing, finesse fishing, fishing the slop, reading water, etc. Is there a website or other source that can break down some of these things for me?

Read through "Fishing Articles" at the top of this page and the links provided. Our library is extensive. I think you'll find just about everything you are looking for it you spend some time with this collection.

To earn "extra credit" you could then go back through the pages of the BassResource.com forums. Each section has a number of detailed discussions that I'm sure you will find interesting.

I personally don't think there IS a better site on the Net than the BR Forums to learn about bass fishing or any other kind of freshwater fishing as far as that goes. As the other guys have already said: read/read/read all the great info that BR has to offer. Then I'd like to add:  ask/ask/ask all the questions that you have still unanswered. There are MANY venerable guys and gals on BR who will eagerly answer all your questions. These Forums ARE the place to BE! I know I have learned a LOT since I joined and started asking questions:o)

This site has over 200,000 pages of information about bass fishing. It is the largest bass fishing website on the internet. If you can't find it here I would be very surpised.

There are three different search engines here. The one for the articles is located on the Home Page half way down on the left side. There are two for the forums. The box at the top right with the magnifying glass next to it is a quick one and for a more indepth search there is the search botton at the top command bar.

But when your not on the water this is the next best place.  There is alot of great info on this site check it out!  ;D

books are also great ways to learn. you can get them cheap on sites like amazon. if you'd like a couple recommendations just shoot me a pm. this site is also another way to learn. i prefer books because i can get more comfortable when im on the couch or sitting outside reading rather than at a computer desk. i also like to highlight stuff so its better to have the material in my hands. sometimes if i find an article online, ill print it out at my school's lab.  

Doubt very seriously if there is something connected to Bass fishing that hasn't been gone over (with fine tooth comb) on this site! Best site and best folks also WELCOME !!!

I agree for reading this is one of the best if not the best resource I have found. As for joining a club that is a great place to learn. I believe that  fishing with people better than you accelerates the learning curve big time. Combine what you learn here with what you learn in a club and you will be amazed how fast you learn. 8-)

You got lucky your at the right place for learing!!!! After all we never stop learing. I would read the seasonal articles here and read everything listed here too sooner or later you'll use all the knowledge you read here.

To me this is the best bass fishing forum on the planet.

My tip; I print out some of the stuff to keep it on my night stand and i read before i go to bed or even when i can't sleep. I like it within hands reach. Once you read and understand it its time to go out and try it. Nothing can beat time spent on the water fishing. I have a lot of fishing "how to" video's too which i watch all winter too.

There is a lot to learn if your serious about bass fishing. In the beginning of my bass fishing I would take a handful of lures and just go fishing. I would try to practice my presentations when the fish would interupt me, i hate when that happens(just kidding) there really letting us know we got it right.

On slow days I had a habit of rushing thru my lures with no success after using every lure in my tacklebox I would calm down and try each one again using all different presentations till i got a strike. My point is don't rush...

I try to learn a different lure and pattern every year, sometimes i learn two new things and add that to my arsenal of baits.

The fish will teach you!!!!!
