Is there a section to post video links to youtube videos on here? I am new to the site, was a member a couple years ago but I wanted to come back and join the site again. I have been making a few tips videos and once the ice goes away I am going to tape my trips and turn them into 10-20 minute videos on youtube to show how I use the lures I talk about. Some of the lures are sponsor products and some are not so I don't think it would violate any rules and nothing but the link would be posted on the site in case you wanted to watch. I'm going to post my college fishing videos from FLW as well on youtube so everyone can watch that wants to check them out. Can someone point me in the right direction before posting any link?

Send a PM (personal message) to Glenn before posting.

The "sponsored lures" are definitely out without prior approval.

I'm sure you can make an arrangement, but check with him first.

I think it would be kind of nice to have a video section. you could break it down by technique even. I know LBH has some sweet videos that could be on there. It would kind of help the newer guys as well. sometimes watching something done is a lot better than trying to read about it. just my .02

Some educational videos would be great. Of course this place is great as it is, a video section would make it even better.

Hope Glenn says yes :-?

Sounds good.  I learn alot from videos and I watch them all the time.  I always say to my self I wish there were more guys who posted videos like LBH.  I also would like to hear what they are fishing and why.

I could be wrong, but i think it would be expensive to host all the videos for the space and bandwidth needed - as great as it would be because it is lot easier to learn something by watching it.

I think you could avoid the hosting and bandwidth issues part by just posting on youtube in the first place. Of course the real work comes in from screening the cream from the crap...

A Video Library would be GREAT to back up the article section. As an Avid reader and a newby i often am left a little confused and looking for just a touch more to push what i just learned. I think videos would be a great addition to this site.

I find myself on youtube all the time looking for instructional videos.  I think it would be great to have them.  And even a place to comment so we can discuss if we agree with their technique.

Great video Low Budget Hooker, but I still think that a video forum would work better.  That way someone can post a video and it will stay on here.  If I ever want to see that video again I don't have to search for it.  Also that way you can monitor the videos and make sure that nobody is doing anything against BassResource.com rules. Just my two cents :)

There just aren't enough folks who are doing it to justify adding another section to the board.  There are maybe 10-15 members who have ever posted any video, let alone tutorial type stuff.

If that changes, our ears are always open.

:)

LBH couldn't you  just put them in a section on the Bass Fishing videos. All you would need to do is have the youtube address, just have members submit the video just like they would do if they wrote an article, you could then look over them and put the ones up that you thought were good and reject the ones you didn't like.

I have notice that not all your articles have been written by your members. Most of the ones I read where reprinted from magazines, videos don't have to be any different. Ask members to suggest what their favorite videos  are already on youtube to help you guys get started.

Of course if you guys don't think that it possible or not worth the time

then you guys know what your talking about :) I'm just making a suggestion.

Good luck with your wake baits LHB I saw the video;)

there are a ton of fishing videos on utube is there a way that if someone found a good one we could post it and it would stay. I think it could generate some good forum topics. there is so much garbage on utube that for a good video you have to search for 20 minutes to find it. just a thought I would love to see something like this happen.

Guys, the staff is following this and we all appreciate the input but at the moment, a video section just isn't in the works.

We have incorporated video aspects into the site such as being able to embed u-tube type video directly and that alone was no small feat on Glenn's part. For now, please post videos accordingly:

-tutorial, technique specific- GENERAL

-Tackle or lure specific- TACKLE

-Report back- MY OUTINGS

-Entertainment, fishing specific- GENERAL

Thanks, and thanks for the input!! :)

Yes, LBH is correct, we're not ignoring this thread.  Just trying to digest it and discuss feasibility.

My main concern with YouTube is that after a video has played, a list of suggested videos is displayed.  I have no control over that, and some of the suggested videos may not be suitable for this site.

Having people submit the videos to us directly would solve that problem, but then that means reviewing video after video and deciding whether or not to post them, based upon an ultimately subjective set of criteria, which would be open to criticism.  Not to mention the time to post them, host them, and pay for the bandwidth and hard drive space.

So rest assured, we're discussing the challenges as well as pros/cons and feasibilities.

As always, I really appreciate the ideas and feedback.  Incorporating those ideas is the reason why we're the #1 bass fishing site on the Internet.  So I don't plan on ignoring those ideas any time soon.   8-)
