Ipods? Yes or no?

Featured Replies

I tried headphones once and couldn't stand it, except for running across the lake. now I bring a small 1 speaker stereo that I bought for $8 at target and listen to talk radio, only after all the dips come onto the lake.

Considering how many times i hear a fish, or bait, or birds every time i am on the water...........i would never consider wearing headphones......crazy talk.

I'm an absolute music addict and I listen to my ipod for hours everyday but when I'm fishing I need to be able to focus on the sounds around me so I leave the ipod at home. Plus, if I dropped my ipod overboard (which, if you know me, you would understand that this is not only entirely plausible but quite likely) it would be like losing a pet.

Nope, not for me, but I listen to traffic, music and industrial noise all day every day. (not two mention the noise generated by two teen-agers in the house).  So I prefer to soothing sounds of nature, I want to forget the crazy world I inhabit, and experience the Natural World.  (of course im often on man made lakes!) :D

I listen to my ipod all the time on the water, especially in tournaments.  It helps me get in the zone and pumps me up.  I have certain songs for certain situations.

LOL.  Hit Em Up by Tupac

To hard to concentrate, plus I like it to be quiet when I fish

LOL.  It bought the movie Iron Eagle to mind.  The kid did his best flying to certain music.

I have Sirius satellite radio on my boat. Sometimes I have it on, other times not.

If most peoples love of the sound of nature involves other boats at WOT, pleasure boaters yelling and making all kinds of noises, people camping and yelling, traffic on nearby roads, howling wind. Then so be it. I wear my MP3 (I gave up on I-tunes) to NOT here these sounds of "nature". Music calms me and helps me reach and stay in my zone. My eyes "hear" what is most important. When I hunt is my time to hear and experience the sounds and solitude of nature.

I got a little tiny radio ill turn to talk radio or npr while fishin, but i cant do headphones, i get paranoid that someone or somethin is creeping up on me  >:(

I guess it all depends on how serious you are about fishing i like to keep full concentration on my fishing because even on days when fishing sucks theres still alot to learn

Honestly, i have never tried it, so i dont know if i would like it or not.I can see that there is alot of pros and cons. It would seem like your missing something with them on. But i can see where it would increase your feel or concentration of what your lure is doing and how you are fishing.I guess it would be like Daredevil. take away one of your senses and the others are heightened. maybe earplugs with no music would be better than. Oh well, i guess ill just leave the Ipod at home.

nope.  it's real quiet (most of the time) where I fish and I like to hear what's going on.  Tried it once and found it too weird.

No, I like the quiet.

I personally don't. I enjoy the outdoor sounds. Plus one too many times I've almost stepped on a snake and that extra noise pickup is key.

No.  No ipod, music or anything.  All I want to hear is nature.  Also, if something is hitting the surface behind me, I want to be able to hear it and cast to it.

Eddie

sometimes but I have to leave one earbud out, in case something is trying to sneak up on me....

Definately NO music on an iPod, or portable radio, or any other source, while I'm fishing.

Don't get me wrong... I LOVE music. So much so, that I've been working on a high end system in my new truck all Winter long.... but that's only for the trips to, and from the lake :-)

Once I get a pole in my hand, the only thing I want to hear is the water hitting my bow, the birds, the fish jumping, etc.

BTW, my new stereo system has a USB cable built into the back of it, which can be attached to an iPod, to store all of my music..... But instead, I bought a little 8gig flash drive for $29.95 which does the same thing. Sounds so great, I don't even bother with CD's anymore.

Peace,

Fish

I have a Dewalt Sterio that runs on thier 18V batteries i keep on low and it lasts all day. I wouldnt use an IPOD or anything pluged into my head.

Just my DeWalt :)
