I found out the wrong way just how important a good tied is. I didnt check to see if it was tight, and what do you know, I hook up with a fish and loose it at the boat. Just make sure your knot is tied up tight before you fish.

yeah I have never since cast my lure with a fresh knot without checking it. But your right, it has to happen some time lol.

Try forgetting to tighten up the drag at all and then setting the hook on a fish!!!! >

yes, but not with a fish for me. I quickly tied a knot with my first ever rattle trap and made my cast. I was amazed at such an excellent cast  I made, admiring how far it was flying through the air and it really went. I didn't know until I turned the crank handle that it was all lure.  The scraggly line at the end was a tell tale sign I tied the knot half-heartedly.  >

LOL, that's classic bro! I debated forever on buying a Spro frog($$$$) and when i finally did this happened on the second cast with it!

Haha some funny stories but it has to happen at least once to make us never do it again :'(

tied on an x-rap, casted, and off gone with the wind was my lure. i dint even get to have a fish on the other end :'(. luckily the x-rap was a gift. I still feel kinda stupid though

Had a nice 6lber (calibrated eye when it jumped) on last year on a brand new rod & reel. It started peeling off line and before I could adjust the drag, it wrapped itself around a post. Lost that fish because I didn't check my equipment before I started fishing.

LOL, that's a good one! Happened to me when pitching and i get an immediate hit!  ;D

everybody's had it happen once the bad part is if ya got to see the size of the whopper that dashed your hopes from gleaming to bummed in a split second

I cut the other end of a polamar knot too close to the knot and I'm assuming the knot came undone as I set the hook on one last year. Ugh.

Ever cut the main line instead of the tag and toss a sinking bait over the edge of the boat, just to watch it slowly disapear? Good for a laugh when it happens to your buddy, not so much when it happens to you.

I was watching some fishing videos on YouTube and I believe it was a husband and wife fishing and she did the exact same thing! The funnier part of the video was, I believe on the very next fish she caught and used another set of pliers and she did the same thing again!

Haha, that made me think about the time I went to practice walking the dog with my brand new Luckycraft Sammy( I got three of them in various colors) and tied my loop knot which I had practiced tying a few times, cast it out and it sailed pretty far out and hit the water.

Now this wouldnt have been quite so bad, since they float, but I was bank fishing. I spent a half an hour using other floating baits trying to "hook" the sammy.

I also hit a laydown with it once while bank fishing and got snagged. I looked around, stripped to my underwear and went in the lake for the lure.

I will not lose a 15 dollar lure to a laydown, I will go in after it.....lol.

My girlfriend and a buddy of mine were with me, they just shook their heads and then proceeded to video me with a phone.

Ahhh good times.
