This last year: Adding a Largemouth game to my skills (up north here most focus on the smallmouth bass). Catching a 6lbs+ Smallmouth at dusk.

The decade: Just being fortunate to have family property on beautiful georgian bay with some boats for me to fish out of!

2009:

Finally broke the 6 lb. mark.

Decade:

Finally caught one over 5 lb. 

Learned how to fish a jig.

For the decade, my main accomplishment was getting back into fishing. An unfortunate series of events in the late '90s left me physically and financially unable to do much serious fishing.

I still don't trust myself in a boat, but I've been able to take up fishing again, and this site has been invaluable in helping me get back up to speed.

Right on, my fellow washingtonian! Yeah, the pinks were in good this year. I caught my share too. Can't say that for steel or chum however. :'(

My accomplishments are far more humble:

1) Designed a crankbait from scratch that caught trout and smallmouth bass. I wrote about it and almost won a fishing rod for that story with a second place finish. Bitter sweet! I tried to win the rod for my dad.

2) Took my dad salmon fishing, his first time and he caught two different species, the pink and silver. I also wrote about it and it got posted on a hunting and fishing forum.

3) Caught my first bass on jig. Four seasons long without a jig bass. What a shame! ;D

4) Had two bass fishing showdowns with my little girl and fished with my son also.

First blood in the first five minutes yielded a first class smile.

5) Took a group of Seniors fishing.

Started back fishing after a 30+ year layoff!  Caught some big bass for the first time ever. It has been great!

2009 was kind of a layoff year for tournaments. I did fish 5 tournaments though winning one with 23 lbs. 9 oz.

The decade was great! I started fishing tournaments in 2005 and had 3 top ten BFL finishes that year. I won a boat in 2007.

My biggest accomplishment for the year was breaking the 30lb barrier for northern pike & 12lb barrier for steelhead. My decade accomplishment was breaking the 7lb barrier for smallmouth & largemouth, 12lb barrier for walleye, & the 37lb barrier for lake trout.

2009 - Buying a bass boat finally (2000 Champion 181 w/ 150 Optimax)

Only started bass fishing in 07, so the Decade list is short..

2008 - 12lb 6oz & 13lb3oz large mouth.

I haven't been fishing for a decade, but in the time I have been, here is what really stands out to me....

1. Winning a BFL

2. Winning Co-Angler of the Year in the BFL Bulldog division (youngest in FLW history 8-))

3. Catching a 10.4lb fish in a tournament

4. Catching my PB 14.7lb bass

Mine would have to be having a very very small role in this young man's accomplishments. Being able to watch him learn and grow into one of the best "Sticks" I know. It has been a great ride.

Mine for this year was actually targeting bass (and not just any fish in the lake) and catching them. Learning a lot about bass fishing, and I didn't get skunked one time last year
