So I am in the fishing club at my school. We met a guy who owns and manages a pond that is stocked full of different kinds of trout. He charges upwards of $100 to people for the day. He lets us go a couple afternoons per semester and we only pay him $15 per afternoon.

Thing is, I know there are some bass in that pond. And, I have heard from people that almost every bass that gets taken out of there is huge. I have heard in fact that almost every spring, one bass of 10lbs get caught :o

Would it be a ******-y thing for me to do, to go out there and fish for bass? I plan on asking the owner but I don't know how other club members will see me for doing this. They will probably say i'm wasting time and missing out on all the great trout fishing. But, I don't care if they snub me really. I'd love to catch a bass that big lol....

What do you guys think?

My brother fishes for trout primarily with cranks. go for it i dont think anyone will care anyway.

I can't imagine why anyone would have a problem with it.

I think they would want you to fish for bass, so they can catch more trout.

There is really no reason for anyone to be mad at you for trying to catch a lunker.

Just tell them your trying a new technique for trout, but all you can catch is bass.

Just asks first and see what hes says. I would find it weird if he said no but still its not your pond and it never hurts to ask.

Even if your friends caught all the trout they wanted and you didn't get a bite, I would still call it a good day of fishing. Add in a chance at a 10lber and I would call it a vacation!

Ditto.  So long as you have permission, who cares what other's think.  Besides, they'd probably appreciate someone catching some of the lunkers that are potentially eating the trout.

The owner will be happy if you catch big bass, they eat the trout he pays to have stocked.

Get yourself a 6" Huddleston Deluxe trout swimbait and fish the pond every chance you get.

Throw a 4-5" grub... trout are known to hit them but you can specifically taget "bassy" areas without raising any suspician. Or bring some spinnerbaits and swimbauts and just don't give a rip what everyone else thinks. If you get a 10 pounder, you've gotta post a pic.

You are being allowed to fish private waters. You should ask the owner first or you might lose your privilege.

if you plan on releasing them i wouldnt see any problem... doesnt hurt to ask though.

Well i think the best thing to do would be to be a best friend,tell the truth,overuse i love you, go to work,do your best, and don't outsmart your common sense.
