Featured Replies

Happy New Year everyone!! 2011 is officially here. So what are some goals, objectives, or wishes for fishing this year? Mine is to get on more lakes, make more time to go fishing, and catch more bass than previous years. I want more, more, more !!!

I'm not sure what the difference is between hopes and goals. I'd love to get a personal best, but they don't come around that often. I do hope to catch more and bigger bass than last year. That should be pretty easy since 2010 was a horrible year for me.  I just hope I'm not saying the same thing a year from now.  ;D

catch fish

for real i would like to able to better pattern fish and also catch more fish pitching slop

i need to suck less at catching bass

I would just be happy to have the time to get on the water once a month. Ain't gonna happen, but that's my wish!

I'm still looking to catch my first DD bass.  This has been my goal for the past several years.  My current PB is 7 lbs.

I'd like to make more video's of my trips.  I'd also like to get better at locating/catching bedding bass.

If I can find it, I'll send you a great video on how to easily mount a tripod to the back deck.  Only costs a couple of bucks plus the tripod.

Personally, I'd love to learn how to locate fish a little better.  What I'd really like to do in the coming year is catch a fish in the teens.  Anything 13+ would work.  I'm not sure how realistic that is, but I'm d**n sure going to try.

I think Lox Wildlife holds a couple in that weight class.  We need to get a couple dozen, extra large wild shiners, our flippin sticks loaded with #25 mono and drift along the edges of the canal.

Definitely more time on the water......................

I'll be new to boating this year so my goals are to learn how to properly use my new fish-finder, but more importantly, I have buy a fish-finder.  Any recommendations?

I would also like to improve with my bait-caster.  I really want to get as comfortable with it as I am with my spinning rigs.

I'm not as worried about catching fish.  The fish will come.  My baits look so delicious that I have to make sure my fishing partners have full bellies, otherwise I'm spending more time pulling hooks out of their mouths.

Confidence is a virtue.....At least that's what I keep telling myself. :-?

Going to spend a ton of time running areas that I overlook with my SI unit. In fact, headed out tuesday to take another look around with it before this weekend. there has got to be tons of overlooked hot areas that will show in areas i have driven by for years.

I'm gonna spend more time dock fishing with a lawn chair and a bobber (or maybe some catfish sinker rigs) in the interest of getting my 3 year old son started in the game.  Cold beverages in the cooler may also be involved.

My goals for 2011 :

  Catch a 5lb Smallmouth and a 7lb Spotted Bass

Just want to up my PBs by 1lb, except for my LM PB.

Try to venture out more and try larger lakes, even though I haveto beat the bank. And learn to Drop shot.

Going back to the basics and downsizing. I got into ultra lite about 5 years ago and was very successful in terms of numbers and size. I strayed from that last year and paid for it. I'm only taking things that have worked for me, otherwise I'm tying something new on every 10 minutes.

You should see my tackle bags. They're no bigger than one of those 'six pack' size cooler bags. One for ultra light and one for the rest of my gear.

I'm gonna get that 8 that got away from me 2 years ago if it's the last thing I do...
