Hello from Alabama

Howdy

I'm a native of the Muscle Shoals area of Alabama. Been fishing all my life (I'm 43). Come from a fishing family. Got into bass after catching a 7 lb spot one day while taking a break from catfishing. Was big into largemouth for a while until introduced to the smallies below Wilson Dam. Nothing more fun than drifting yellowtails for smallmouth in October. Personal best smallie is 6.3 lbs. I fish for everything depending on season; sauger, crappie, shellcraker, big cats, smallies. Not a tournament guy, Have fished a few 20 years ago, but $$$ seems to take the fun out of it for me. Probably won't post a lot but will lurk and learn and post a good catch here and there.

Welcome aboard!

Maybe we can get together next fall. I fish the Tennessee River

below Pickwick, but I like your portion of the river much better.

We fish yellowtail too when they are available, but find the brown

fish have a preference for farm raised green minnows. I think

several varieties are native, but still not common. Maybe the

smallmouth think the green ones are a treat. I have heard slick

minnows are their favorite prey, but they are impossible to fish.

You'll like it here, especially the smallmouth section.
