New From IL

Featured Replies

Hi, guys.  I recently moved to the west burbs of Chicago (near Lombard).  I fished a lot with my uncle when I was younger, but am pretty new to fishing.  I am always open to learning about new tips and tricks.

My goal for the year is to find a nice spot near the house that I can rely on.  If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears.

Welcome to BassResource.com

Me and my buddy Swilly78 (Phil)  fish Deep Quarry Lake, Mallard Lake, Bass Lake.  All good ones.  Phil has caught a couple around 5 lbs.  out of Deep Quarry.  People say the East Branch Preserve Lakes are good too.  Otherwise we usually fish a private lake were we work at Underwriters Laboratories in Northbrook.

Welcome Windy, Ricky beat me to it, so all I can say is look at Izzys' post above mine.  Also, feel free to pm either of us, we are always looking for an excuse to fish!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I like it here already. I have been to Lake Mallard but in July... a little late. When does the water going to hit that beautiful 55-60 degree mark usually? I get the feeling this is going to be a rough spring for fishing when we had snow yesterday.

Welcome to a great site, Lots of knowledgeable people here.

Welcome to BR - Hope you find this site as helpful as I do

Welcome to BR and yeah I think its going to be a tough spring also. Good to see someone else from IL on the board.

DuPage county has lots of fishing areas.

I live in Will County and have found the best fishing to be in certain neighborhood retention ponds. Be careful though as not all of them are open to fishing.

I agree with you on the rentention pond fishing out in Will county

Thanks for the tips on ponds.  I've never fished one before, actually.  I think it would be a great place to start trying to learn the waters, as they're a lot smaller than the lake I have been studying- Busse Lake.

Pulled a 7lber out of my favorite one last year!  That series of ponds is now pretty much the only area I fish regularly.  I want to catch that fish each year!!
