I recently read that inline spinners are deadly for smallies. I have used them with some success I was just wondering what colors do most people throw and what produces the best for them. Chrome blades? Chartuese blades?

I used to catch alot of smallmouths on roostertails yellow and black especially.

Don't know about blade colors, but just watched an Infisherman video on smallies, they talked about inline spinners and said smallies prefer to have a little hair on the the treble hook.. FYI.

I've had great success with Mepps, Blue Fox and especially Panther Martins in 1/4oz.

When I lived in NYS and fished the Delaware River just behind my farm,Mepps with a gold blade.

I would tie in my own dark brown dyed deer hair with some yellow strands to make it more bushy .

This comb would really work much better than any of the other combos I experimented with.

A white w/silver blade roostertail will catch anything that swims around here.

600 series gold/chartreuse from kennebec lure company is the best smallie inline I have ever seen!

Judging from the responses, the answer is as varied as the people who respond.  Inline spinners are a great choice much of the time but color depends upon the location, water conditions, time of day, and the mood of the bass.  I like bright colors in murky water and natural colors in really clear water.  In the waters where I fish, a gold or brass finish on the blade seems to work better than silver.  But don't rule out anything.  Let the fish dictate things.  Obviously that implies you'll have to have an assortment of body/blade colors but the good news is that spinners are a little cheaper (usually) than many baits.  If you fish alone, you'll have to just change baits now and again until you establish a pattern but if you fish with someone else, a good technique is to try diffierent colors than your partner until one of you establishes a pattern.  It saves a lot of time.

I agree, I have caught many with this bait.  

up here on st clair the mepps aglia #4 gold blade no hair seems to be best, I also use it on bedding smallies when they wont pick up a jig, they cant stand it slow rolled over the bed, last june I got a 22-4 limit in a ABA tournament and all I threw was a mepps #4 aglia.
