Td Sol Baitcaster, Finesse Only ???????

Featured Replies

Allot of talk about the "finesse" factor for this reel. Does any one use it for other applications? Cranks, spinnerbaits, T-rigs, C-rigs, jerk baits? What do you feel the limit is when using your TD Sol baitcaster? Reels usually do not come with guidelines for use as rods do.

Use it for anything you want. The Sol will land any bass you are likely to hook. Period.

The only "problem" with that reel is the line capacity, it doesn´t hold much heavier than 10 lbs test, but still you can fish with less than 90 yards of line in your reel, don´t you ?

Works fine for cranks....I have three.

I have the Spinning reel, the 2500, and I love it! Works great on a ML rod, 10lb. line, and a weightless 5" senko!

you might look at the Daiwa Fuego. that piece will handle 5/16 oz and up with ease. also holds a bit more line than the Sol. either way, you cant go wrong.

I have four Alphas, the JDM version of the Sol. I can, and do, use them for everything. The only down-side, as far as I'm concerned, is the retrieve speed. Sometimes you just need a faster reel.

I have 3 Sols and an Alpha and another Alpha on the way. I use them for just about anything I feel comfortable using 10-12lb line for. My Sols are used for cranking, one for shallow runners and topwater, one for deep divers, and my other is just an extra at the moment. The only reason they are cranking reels is because they match a carrot stix gold almost perfectly and they're my cranking rods. I use my Alpha for a mix of things, it's on my tube rod but also fish shakey heads, 1/4oz and under Texas rigs, smaller weight finesse jigs, jerkbaits, dropshot, ikas, and senkos.
