One of the public lakes I fish gets a lot of bank fishing pressure.  Yesterday I talked to three different individuals using crankbaits and all were using shallow running, rattling cranks (2 were using Bandits 100 and one was using a Bomber Square A).  Non of them were having any luck which got me to thinking...if everybody is throwing rattling cranks, then I should be throwing cranks with no rattles.  Something that the bass maybe hasn't seen.  So I'm asking...what are some of the non-rattling shallow running cranks that y'all would recommend.  Preferably in the 0-3 ft range.  

    I think the Rapala DT 3 is a non-rattling shallow crankbait.  I also think that the Lucky Craft shallow running crankbaits are non-rattling as well.

Best of bot worlds, you can turn the rattles on and off!

Almost all of the wooden baits have no rattles Dt- Dt-4 the Rick Clunn Luckycraft original is silent, Bomber Balsa B, any of the Bagleys. etc

Two Rapalas come to mind. There's the original floater and the Countdown. The latter is a sinking bait but can easily be fished in the upper three feet of the water column.

Sebile Flat Shad ~ The 77-SU is a suspending bait that has really been a solid producer so far this season . . .

Think of it as half lip-less crank bait and half jerk bait - bass aren't seeing too many baits like it - at least not yet

And like Skunked said, don't forget to try the Thin Fin.

LC RC 1.5, Bagley B1/B2/B3, and there is a Bomber Balsa Bait, not sure of the model I think it's a Bomber B that runs 0-3 feet.

I caught my PB on a Norman Fat Boy, bluegill pattern.

The Spro Little John has a soft tungsten weight that allows for long casts but makes the bait quiet.  They are very nice little cranks.  They dive a little deeper than you want but they are easy to control with your rod.

Thanks y'all...I going to check some of these lures out and see what I can come up with.  I was thinking about taking some of my rattling baits and drilling a hole to squirt in some glue to quiet the rattles. But what if, once the glue dries, the lure is off balance from the rattles glued in an unbalanced condition.  I guess I can try to pick up some old crankbaits from a yard sale or flea market and experiment a little.
