All-Around Line

Featured Replies

Hey guys and gals. I am new to this site and I have to say it is awesome. I am all geared up for walleye and panfish as this is what I have normally targeted but I have access to a private lake that has a good population of nice bass. I just purchased a baitacasting setup for my and my son to start using. Since I don't have many rod/reel setups for different baits, what would you consider a good all-around line to use. I will mostly be throwing spinners/buzz baits, a few cranks, and jigs. Occasionally will throw a frog but not much.

Thanks for your help!

I´ve been fishing for more than 3 decades, have tried numerous lines and IMHO the best all around line is the old trusty Trilene Big Game.

I really like suffix mono for an all around line maybe 10 or 12 pound whatever you like.

I would use 50# Power Pro. Braid is the best line to use IMO.

I took Kent's advice over a year ago. My spinning rods are all Yozuri, my casting are almost all Yozuri from 10 to 20 lb test. I have not broken off a fish on this stuff to date. It handles exceptionally well.

I spooled up some 12 lb yo-zuri today. I am heading out this week to give her a ride.

Thanks for the advice!

P-line Floroclear. No as stiff as the Yo-Zuri Hybrid, but excels in all the same areas. It's generally a lot easier to find that Yo-Zuri Hybrid is as well.
