ticked Off, First Time Out Loomis Broke

First time out with my new loomis flipping rod and the #$!*in thing broke, snapped clean 4" below the tip. Didn't bang it up or step on it I was pitching to the bank and it just cracked off clean, I'm wondering if It was damaged during shipping then it broke on me.. Called the store I bought it from he said he'll call his rep on monday and see about getting another one in asap bc he doesn't stock them.. I'm disappointed, the rod was nice n light and exactly what I was looking for, I used it for 8 hrs today and at the end of the day with a few docks left it blew up on me.

Good thing it wasn't 29 days later. Doesn't the expeditor service kick in after 30 days?

I was wrong about that. Gloomis rods are covered by a limited lifetime warranty...for one year. Very limited lifetime. The expeditor service is a service you can pay for to basically do a quick, no questions asked rod replacement. You send them the rod and pay $100 to get a new one. On some models the service is not available. They also have the "wild card". It's kind of confusing. I would think in your case, regardless of what model, they should replace your rod at no charge. They probably will. Good luck.

Well they can inspect all they like, in my hands nothing comprimising the rods integrity was done.. None the less the store owner is getting me a rod and he'll deal with his sales rep for a replacement.

Yeah, I really don't think it will be any problem for you.

Like any other high end products you pay top dollar for them, its unfortunate it broke.. but even ferraris need servicing sometimes.. I believe it had something to do with damage during shipping and not the quality of the product.. as for the 100 dollar replacement cost, if u think about it - it is fair, if they didn't everyone would be breaking rods all the time for a free replacement. If its a problem from there end they look after it. My understanding anyways

It's actually not that bad a deal if you use your rod as a running board or do like I did once and run over 12 of them with a Ford F-350 dually. It's alot better than paying $400 for a new GLX, where other companies would say, "hey, you broke it, not us". It's a get out of jail kind of free card. That's not their only warranty option.

Exactly... Or hey I wanna sell this rod to a friend but its all destroyed, ill break it nd get him a new one since I don't even have to pay for it

Sounds to me that you guys are clueless. Expiditer and the loomis warranty are two totally different things. Do you hear me? They are DIFFERENT. If the rod broke due to a manufactureres defect then Loomis will replace it FREE. If it broke do to YOUR carelessness hen the expiditer process is the way to go. GEEEEEEESh.

It is a lifetime warranty (not one year), on manufacturers defect, you just gotta pay shipping, and you'll need a receipt for that, or unless your local shop keeps a receipt in their system. But if you broke it and it's deemed not a manufacturers defect, then you pay $125 no questions asked, known as the expediter service, and no receipt is needed.

That's what my local shimano/loomis rep told me. Seems fair. Or everyone (which was probably happening) would break their rods just to get a nice fresh clean one.

Coming out of the wood work over here bc you wouldn't spend that kind of money on a rod- now you have to knock it to feel better..I make enough money where the price of that rod isn't a big deal. And I love the sport of bass fishing so I enjoy spending money on it regardless of the amount

1. I really wasn't addressing you, but the point I quoted.

2. My screen name refers to one of my favorite rods, an Evergreen Pantera. I also own an Evergreen Spin Cobra, an Evergreen Tyrant HD and a Megabass F5 1/2- X68FTi "Diablo". All of which put the Loomis to shame performance wise. Since you equate price with status, the JDM rods also cost more than the Loomis.

3. I really don't care what you've spent on your bass fishing. It's not any of my business where you spend for your pleasure.

Next time do a quick search on the Veritas and how it was smeared here and on other forums for the exact same thing you're complaining about. And also pay attention to who's being addressed by whom before you get your panties in a twist.

Not at all, it's just remarkable the amount of rationalization that goes on when something like that occurs. It's an imperfect world, screws fall out.

Personally, I got rid of a lot of my higher end stuff because I was starting to worry too much about breakage and theft. Now my prime cuts go out when I get the mood, otherwise it's the less expensive stuff. It's nice to focus on fishing and not where I'm stepping or who's around the ramp.

Any rod that breaks that easily is either due to a manufacturer defect or was damaged somehow. Even a tiny bruise or nick in the blank will cause a rod to snap like a twig as soon as it's bent.

I don't suppose you missed a hookset while pitching and had the bait come back and hit the rod? It might sound insignificant but I had that happen earlier this year when I was lightly trying to free a buzzbait that was snagged on a tree root from about 15 feet away. It came flying back, gently clicked the blank of the rod up near the tip, and the rod snapped on the next fish. I had done this before, but the bait must have hit the rod just right this time.

I hear you Pantera, misunderstanding... This is the first rod in that high end price range I own.. With my crucial I was worried enough but was lucky enough not to have anything happen to them.. I went as far as even buying a cover for the d**n thing so it didn't get banged up in my rod locker haha.. As for missing a hookset and the jig coming back at the rod I don't think so. It broke 4" below the tip

Still haven't received the replacement but the store owner was nice enough to give me a new st.croix legend tournament 7'6 pitching stick for the time being.. Now that's service!

I fell face first into a pile of rocks and broke a 7' Medium Falcon Elite. No longer made. $289 rod. I sent Falcon $86, Falcon sent me a $200 Cara. I felt this was a good deal given the fact that it was 100% my fault the rod broke. $125 may seem like a lot (and is for me), but I wouldn't consider it excessive considering you are getting a $400 rod. I definitely would consider it very fair if you are guilty of breaking the rod.

Edit: That is excellent service from the store owner. Wish I had more than a Dick's close by. :(
