...king salmon. When there over 20lbs we refer to them as "Tunas" We attempted a smallie and king trip in Door County but the fish and weather had other plans.Caught Friday evening in Sister Bay on a Fat Free Shad. We were in the water at 2:00pm and fished til about 8:00pm. Aside from small bass this was all the excitement. Saturday morning a front sat above Sturgeon Bay and it rained and rained. We fished til 2:00 looking for smallies and made a half assed attempt for some walleye or pike. A couple of hits and follows but nothing to show for it. The wind picked up and I felt it no longer safe to be in my little boat n the Big Pond and we headed in.

You'll love to hook into one, especialy on bass gear. It's like a Mack truck hitting the lure. Earlier in the day I was teasing my son because he hadn't caught anything. I didn'thear the end of it for the rest of the weekend.

You probably wouldn't like the meat once they are green and kype'd up. Not at all what you think, brown and mushy. Now, if they are dime bright, that's another story!

Up here we use centrepins and 15' UL rods. That initial run is unstoppable, on ANY gear. A real blast!

John you gonna be hitting the oak at all this fall for trout or salmon? I think I might battle for a spot when I get back from Cali next month.
