Goodbye Gamakatsu, hello Owner.

Hooks shouldn't bend with a medium power rod and 8lb flouro. This was the last straw.

Goodbye Gamakatsu, hello Owner.

What took you so long?  :)

Well now, none of this has happened to me in 12 years of fishing

Gamakatsu hooks, almost exclusively as single hooks. However,

I'm going to heed your advice. Going forward, I'm a Owner Man!

8-)

the sad thing is, I always thought of owner as a second choice to gammies, until I started reading up on here, how everyone loves owners over gammies. I just stocked up on a fresh supply of them. oh well, theyseem to work too.

I don't really buy into a lot of fishing stuff hype, but when you can actually see that a 3/0 Owner is thicker than a 3/0 Gammie, its good enough for me.

Just had too many types of Gamakatsu hooks in the Falcon box. Had some BPS gift cards so today was the day.

owners are tough to beat...gammie superlines are a bad close second.

superlines, mind you.

I have been using Gamakatsu hooks for many years and have yet to have them fail me. Even after days of abuse in heavy cover and big fish. If it aint broke...........................................   :)

I use both, but I think Owners are generally superior, too.

Never have, never will use a Gamakatsu hook.

That's the problem. Been using them since about '92-'93. Last year I witnessed two of them snap on a friend in my boat. Had one break last summer and this year have bent three already. None of these were a result of bionic ninja hooksets, and none of the failures were with braid.

Time to move on.

I have never had any problem with them.

I love gammies. Sometimes the point rolls over though. Owners supposedly are better about not doing that. I need to try owners.

You will be happy you did.  I prefer Owner to Gamas any day.  All new stock is owner, still fishing Gamas just because I have a bulk pack of 5/O I'm still using up.

I love gammies and have never had a problem. However the hookpoint does roll over at times after a snag or a large amount of fish. I hear the Owners aren't like that.

Never had a problem with any Gammies. Can't ever remember seeing a turned point or broken hook either. With that said, I'm going to give Owners a try if I can pick them up locally.

Next stop will be at the top with Mustad :)

Not everyone loves owners.

Why ?????????

You guys saying: "all I use is Gamakatsu" will never know how good Owner hooks are until you try them.

Throughout my years as fisherman I 've fished with Eagle Claw, Mustad, Tru Turn, Gamakatsu and Owner.

Tru Turn .... poor

Eagle Claw ... fair

Mustad ... good

Gamakatsu ... very good

Owner ... excellent.

Owner doesn 't give a penny divided in half for recommending their hooks, neither the others do.

All I can say is this, with a L rod ( basically a noodle ), 6 lb test ( a hair ) all I need to do to set the hook on a fish is to lift the rod and the hook without any effort slicing through flesh and bone when I rig my baits with Owner hooks.

How often do you guys go about switching hooks?  10 fish?  Every time you re-tie?

Obviously if they're damaged they get tossed.

I love my owners hooks.... ;D

Even though i still use Gamakatsu & Mustad,i prefer a owners.

I'm real close to start making my own jigs, just so i can have my owner hooks....problem is i can't afford it.

Never have, never will use a Gamakatsu hook.

:)

Why ?????????

Because when I first got into fishing I started with Owners and haven't used anything else.

Like Dink whisperer said, if ain't broke..................................................

For a second I thought you were announcing that you took a job with Fedex!   ;D

on topic- I've been an owner guy for many years... they are as good as you hear.

I've used both companies for hooks and both have been great. I really can't say one if better than the other but I stick with Gama over Owner because it's more readily available, cheaper, and I've never had any problems that some of you guys have had with them.
