I had the rare opportunity to fish a couple of the new line of Rage Tail baits this pas weekend, specifically the Smokin' Rooster and the Rage Hawg. Man, these are both killer baits. Smokin Rooster gets bites from top to bottom. Rage Hawg will make your Brush Hogs gather dust.

Unbelievable action. I will be posting a more thorough review with pics as soon as I get them out of my camera and resized. Look for it in "My Fishing Tournament or Outing" section.

    Can't wait to try them as well.

I LOVE rage tail soft baits but the new hog is almost the exact same thing as the zooms and twice as much!

I would have to see them in action compared to the Zoom brush hog.

All other rage tails I am sold on for sure tho.

Take another look at the video of the Rage Hawg.

1) Arms are actually functional whereas brush hogs arms do nothing.

2) Tail action is much better due to the Rage Tail design.

3) Baits will last longer so cost should not be a factor.

4) Coffee scent. For some reason, bass love this and hang on longer.

All I can say is give 'em a try. I don't think you will be using brush hogs for long after.

Looks like more than likely I will be trying them out starting next year in that case as I don't fish too much after Sept.

Don't get me wrong I will try the Hawgs. I hope they outperform the Rage Lizards. Those did not really produce any more than any of my other lizards.

what lizards do you use? the rage tail lizard killed any lizard i had

All Rage Tail Baits for subsurface applications are designed to have maximum action with 1/4 oz pegged weight. All of the RT video action shots are produced with 1/4 oz as well. This size weight is the most popular in the market place and the RT's are designed to slow fall rate and hold bait in strike zone just a little longer as well as have increased action over all other Soft Plastic products.

If you watch the video's closely, although there may be constant swimming footage on some, there is also footage on each on lift and free fall to illustrate the action provided. The baits are illustrated in this manner to show the versitility of each for the variety of applications and use.

For me, the difference is that on the Lizards, all the arms and legs swim on the lift and fall. Name another Lizard that can say that. Same with the Rage Hawg. Brush Hogs arms are just for decoration IMO. They do nothing on the retrieve. Check the video. Then go to YouTube which has clips of just about every bait made. Search your favorite and you will see a difference. On those days when the fish are hitting everything in sight this might not be a big deal, but I like to keep the odds in my favor.

I am not saying the Rage lizards are crap by any means, but when I tried them, they did'nt produce any more than my usual Big Bite Baits Kreit tail lizards. And on the brush hog thing about the arms. I realize it might be nice not to have to do this, but I have always pinched loose a section of the little arms, top or bottom and that gives them some action. I am sure the Rage Hawgs will be awesome. They look great in the video. I will definatley try them at least a couple of times. But to me it is saying a lot to state that it will be better than the brush hog. Maybe I am just grumpy and set in my ways.

Ok, the more I watch the video, the more the Eeliminator makes my mouth water. Is it supposed to waked? because it does a fine job at that. When can we get them?

Day, Night, top, mid depth, slop, I don't see an application it won't work in except maybe as a deepwater bait. But I'm pretty sure someone will come up with a way to fish it deep and let us know about their success with it.

my buddy had 2 of those eels he got from a promo gig at a boat show and needless to say i cant wait for them i also watched some fishing show on direct tv the other week and they where testing the new eels, for both bass and redfish,and that thing was getting slammed one after another,just watching the show made my wallet itch for these baits,september cant come soon enough.the new rage shrimps also look promising.

I like the new Rage Hogs and the Thumper worms are killer. The Thumper's put a few good fish in the boat in my last night tournament. I was getting so many bites with 'em that when I actually stopped getting bit, I refused to change.  ;D  My confidence in the Thumper worm built up rather quickly in just a 2 hour span.
