I fished the RC STX this past weekend and I see no difference. Both of mine suspend perfectly and I caught multiple fish with no issues w/ the rings or the finish coming off. Anyone who tells you th

Even if the Luck e Strike isn't quite as good as the Megabass, which I agree it probably isn't after fishing one, for the average fisherman with nothing really at stake if he doesn't get that extra co

Really? so you can fish a broken bait, or a suspending bait that doesn't suspend? People are always so worried about spending a couple extra bucks on quality lures yet will spend thousands on the

I have purchased a few of these. I'm hoping to put them in action soon.

I tried one yesterday on the Big-O. Hooked a bass on the first cast. Bent out two trebles. I had changed out the split rings on the three I bought when I first got them. Three cast later I'm looking at it & realized the front lip is gone. Small sample of one. Junk based on four casts & one fish.

Megabass are bad about the bills busting too. It's very thin where it connects to the bait so it doesn't seem to take much to knock it loose. It stinks that it broke but at least it was $8 and not $25! I changed my hooks to short shank VMC's and haven't had a problem since.

I left the stock hooks on just to see how they would perform. They definately need split rings & hook changes before you go trophy hunting. The action seems fine.

Yeah, I'd think 4's would be too big. This bait suspends well for me right out of the box, so heavier hooks would likely cause it to be a slow sinker.

MB's are also bad about busting tails off. Fragile baits. I've yet to break an STX (except a hook barb on one with the original hooks on it), and I've fished one Pro Blue model a bunch now. And that broken barb was on an 8+lber. Still got the fish, though.

I've smacked mine pretty hard on rocks and my trolling motor and haven't broken one either. I saw that 8lber on the O.A. forum, very good looking fish.

I disagree wholly. The quality of the paint, the bill thickness and durability, and overall finish of the bait is far, far less. The only difference, as someone said, is not the hooks. I broke eight Luck E Strike squarebills this year fishing the same places I've fished the RC Lucky Craft and I haven't broken 8 in the past ten years. They're out and out junk by comparison. The only reason I owned any in the first place is that I won some. I won't spend my money on them, I'll guarantee you that.

I can't speak for the jerkbait, as I haven't fished it yet. I'm told it is about a one in 90 chance you get a bait that actually suspends correctly, and the same holds true with the paint and finish. I haven't really formed an opinion on them, as I've not fished them yet.

Just wanted to resurrect this chestnut ... I'm not averse to dropping coin on JDM baits, OSP, Megabass, Imakatsu, Jackall, etc. but I got late to the Lucky Craft rodeo, never had much success early on with them but I figured to try them out again. I tried a couple other less expensive brands as well, the Xcalibur 100 and the RC2.

The LC RC and the RC2 are not exactly the same in body style/build. I tossed the RC2 a few times right out of the box and picked up some fish bouncing the bait off chunk rock. First thing I did when I got home was put Owner 36BC Xs. The fish seemed to like them and they stood up to the chunk rock gauntlet. I won't stop purchasing the upper echelon of the baits but I'll pick a couple of RC2s.

I used an RCX today for the first time. Caught one bass about 2 pounds and a really nice perch on it. The action was fine and the hooks held up fine. I typically change a lot of hooks on most of my treble baits to short shank, round bends. So, I'll probably do that soon. The split ring at the line tie isn't so good, but it also held up. I've not used a 110 but maybe I'll get one and compare the two. I know I'll have to change the hooks on it, because I use slightly heavier than typical rod rating and line for jerkbaits. I just wish they made an RCX in a perch color.

Oh, and I caught a small pike on an RC2 and it held up fine. Was fishing it really shallow, digging it into gravel and chunk rock. No breaks or problems. Granted, this is just one outing for each of these lures but I'll definitely be fishing with them a bit more this year.

The STX's are cheap enough (especially if you get them on sale), that you can send them off to a custom painter and get whatever finish you want. There's a guy in the area that does a great job for $12 per lure.
