Getting Paint Out of the Eye of the Hook

Featured Replies

Did a search on this, couldn't find anything.

This is a big problem in my Booyah jigs.

I have tried using another hook, but I can't make a hole big enough for a Palomar knot to fit in.

So what's your solution?

They sell what is called an "Eye Popper".

What do you mean by the knot won't fit through?

Something to think about when removing the paint.

Will the instrument you are using cause scratches or burrs on the metal of the eye?

If it can, don't use it.  Unless you want to lose a lure, or worse yet, a big fish.

It's not big enough to get the two lines throught the eye of the hook.

Dont fold the line over to get it through the eye of the hook.

Run the tag end through the eye, make your loop on the other side and then run it back through the eye again.

It's much easier.

Got a hook that's no good?  Use it to bust the paint.

Be inventive and solve the problem.

Yup.

Good quality hook, great colors, and durable paint coat on the jig head.

The only bad thing about the paint is that they paint over the eye.

Best? ;D

Yup.

Oh, I forgot to mention they have got a nice flowing skirt.

;D

What do you like?

I had this problem around the 4th of july and luckily had my jig heads and some sparklers sitting next to eachother. The metal ends of th sparklers worked great

I told you once, I'll tell you one last time: "EYE POPPER"

Cost about 2 bucks, you'd be a fool to play with a hook-point.
