Thanks, caught a few decent ones nothing huge. This was my first year winter crappie fishing, used to just hang up the rods for winter.

post-23817-0-70094300-1330039710_thumb.jFished the Shenandoah today at Riverton. Water was clear (4+ ft.) and 44-45 degrees. Caught 12 smallies with the best 5 between 11-12lbs. Big fish was 19in 3.75lbs. It was an awesome day to be on the river!post-23817-0-98237700-1330039501_thumb.jpost-23817-0-58387500-1330039443_thumb.j

That is a scrounger jig. It puts a really nice wobble in your bait ie. fluke, grub, swimbait etc....

Went out to a pond yesterday after work for about 45 minutes just to get out. I caught one small bass on a shad spoon and UL rod/real, but that was the only hit I had. I still enjoyed it though. Does anybody know where I could find chain pickerel in the Richmond area? I've never caught one before and would love to try.

Chick Lake

Thanks Wayne. I thought that I heard there were some in the South Anna. I was thinking of parking at the ramp off of 33 and wading it when the weather warms up.

Really, Really nice group of smallies Hotrod, thanx for the pics!!!

Those scrounges dont catch fish, you shouldn't use them ever.

Which scrounger head do you prefer Quan?

Thanks man. I read this just in enough time to cancel my order from bass pro shops.

Looks like you had a pretty good day out too quanjig!!!

Nice fish and thanx for the pic's !!!!

Hotrod, I've only tried a couple different brands, strike king and J&S by Koblinsky , man I've giving up a lot here, lol! 1/2 oz. long bill. Me no likey the strike king! I'm also looking for an alternative to the Koblinksy cause they are tough to get in a hurry. I do have a nice supply tho!

Nitro, thanks, 5 fish caught yesterday. 2 on the jb, 2 on the droppy, and the best fish on the scrounger. Might have done a lot better if I wasn't so dead set on finding them with the jb!

Brick, thanks as well and im glad I was able to help you make the RIGHT decision and save a couple bucks on your BPS order!!

You sound a little like me when I get dead set on a particular bait, I just can not seem to put it down even though that voice in my head keeps telling me... PUT THE D**N THING DOWN !!!!! lol.

i was out yesterday night and i caught a 4 pounder on a 3" damiki hydra on a 1/4 ounce chartreuse jighead. i don't have a picture of it but it was a nice fish. i am just hoping that the weather gets a bit warmer and the fish start biting a bit more. i fished for about 2 1/2 hours before i even got a bite. has anyone been catching much in northern va? let me know

Thanks for sharing. Prior to reading this post I orderd some Strike Kings. After reading i looked up the J&S and they were going to be 5$+ each arter shipping. You arer not the first person who has not liked the Strike kings. Guess I will try them until I can try others. Thanks again for your input!

What size did you get?? I might be able to give you some hints and tricks to try.

1/4 oz.- 3/0 and 3/8 oz. 3/0 I am fishing a local tx. on the Doah Sat. and thought the scrounger might come into play. Water is 45 and I found fish in 10-12 ft. flats. Your thoughts are much appreciated

What size bill? I usually use the long bill, I think that imparts the most action. Depending on the forage, I have had the most success with a full size fluke, the new disco colors with a dipped chartreuse tail. Count it down to the fish with the rod at about 10o'clock position every once in a while imparting a twitch, slowly reeling line. Good luck, let us know how you do!

The Fluke is my favorite bait. The way I rig it gives off that darting, dieing look! Dont think the Strike king offers different bills like the J&S
