St.croix Baitcaster

Featured Replies

Im looking to purchase a mojo bass bait caster but there are so many different rods for each application of fishing. I am not looking to buying all of them but i want one that is applicable to all types of fishing. Is there a mojo bass rod that is good for all applications of fishing?

No rod will cover all techniques, but a 7' MH rod will probably cover the most. Good for spinnerbait, lighter jigs, c-rigs, senkos etc.

Thank you. Will this rod be okay for top water? Some frogs and buzz baits? And what size jig 3/8 ounce?

I don't think you'd like it for topwater, rod tip is too stiff in my mind. It would be okay for frogs though. It will handle jigs down to 1/4oz. up to 3/4oz. with ease.

okay thanks. how does the stiff tip affect topwater lures?

well i may not be the best at anwsering it, but the bass has to have the bend to explode on the bait pull it down a bit to get it hooked... i am sure there is a better answer but thats how it was explained to me,, 1 rod aint gonna cut it all, but all around you could get the mojo spinner bait 7 foot rod, it is MH fast action. pretty descent all around, i have one for my buzzbaits, but somtimes throw differant stuff aswell

You'll want a MF St.Croix.

heres from the website and i saw that the topwater rod is extra fast...i thought that a stiff rod tip isn't good for topwater? now I'm very confused

I have the Mojo topwater which is a 6'6" MH fast. I seems to be a very versitile rod.

I have several of the Mojo rods, you won't want the 7' MH for an all around rod. St.Croix rods run heavier than they're rated for most part. The 7' MH spinnerbait rod is way too stiff for treble hooked baits. I also have the 7'M/F and it would make a much better all around rod and would be my pick if I was going to get only one to do everything with.

I agree with bluebasser86, I have many St Croix rods, the M powered casting rods make better all purpose rods. IMHO

I'd say 6'6"M is the best all-around. This allows you to also use it for jerkbaits and topwater baits because I can't use a 7 foot rod without slapping the water while working jerkbaits and topwaters.
