Probably not, but im neither a fish nor a scientist. Its all about confidence.... However, any color is better than plain due to the fact that the paint helps protect the shape of the leadhead.

absolutely not in my oppinion.i make my own jigs, and the paint always chips completely off sooner or later and ive never noticed a difference with the fish biting better with the paint on or off.I fish ultra clear water 90 percent of the time.Ive always thought we paint the heads so they look pretty to us because the fish dont care.

lol didnt think it did. just wanted to see what you all thought because the guys and i were talkin about it this past weekend after day one of our tournament and most thought it mattered. i thought it was purely cosmetic as do most of you lol

Oh it matters a lot. ALL of my jigs have a somewhat matching head/skirt combination. And even if it doesn't match well, it at least has some paint on it. There is a reason for this, and it is this:

I like my jigs to look pretty when I am making them. And I like my jigs to look pretty when I am pitching them. And I don't care if the fish can see it or not, but a plain head is UGLY!!

They better look good with a skirt........ Oh we're talking about jigs. I like mine to match at least one color in the skirt.

Nope.......I normally buy DOA jig heads, as good a brand as I have used, 3 for about $4-5. I'm now using plain round Walmart non painted jig heads, about 8 for 2 bucks or so, every bit as effective. There some brands I do not like, with some my flukes don't stay on, with others the flukes split then fall off.

You won't see any chips on my Siebert Outdoor jigs.

I think it can make a huge difference depending on the water clarity, structure etc.....

It's just like fine-tuning a color of a soft plastic. It makes the difference between catching fish and catching lots of fish.

If it makes little or no difference Siebert and Northstar are going to alot of trouble for nothing.

Siebert & Northstar along with everyone else are trying to catch anglers cause bass don't buy lures.

If you bake the powder paint on the paint will not come off. I agree though to the fish the head color doesn't matter.

I have caught over 50+ fish with my favorite NorthStar jig without a chip, but like others have said, I it's more of a confidence thing for me. That is why I always have to buy jig heads in GP and Black to throw in difference conditions..........we're crazy aren't we?!

I have never owned a jig that has survived 50 casts. The Tennessee River is unforgiving. My ponds are just as bad!

Color only matters to the human not the fish. When jigs first hit this part of the country no one painted the heads. You couldn't even buy them at shops or docks with painted heads. Now some jigs have multi colored heads so guess the target (man or fish).

Yeah, for the most part in my neck of the woods we have simple bottom content of much/sand and vegation, with the occasional rock piles.

I fish the Northstar jig alot and I fish it hard,rocks ect. and I have never did chip a head. As for color or no color of the jig head, it does matter to me! And I do agree with previous posts that Big O makes a great jig.

I don't think it matters. I will repaint the heads if they get chipped down to the shinny lead thou.
