Arkey Football Jigs

Featured Replies

While at Wal-Mart tonight; I noticed some Arkey Football jigs. They are 1/2oz., have a Mustad hook, and a Hole-in-One skirt. They have a really nice watermelon-ish color. They were only 3.16 a piece. I might have bought one, but I really can't afford to buy any more tackle right now. Anyone hear used em'? Any opinions? Thanks

EDIT

Holy cow, I don't know how I posted this here. Sorry please move.

i have used a couple of them from walmart.. they do a good job.  i've caught a few bass on them when i use them.. im not much of a jig fisherman and havent used a lot of different kinds..  but from what i have experienced i would def. buy more if i lose these ones..

also i havent had a problem with hook rust or anything like that either

I use them, they work pretty good. I lose a lot of tackle here in the river, very rocky bottom. Gotta love them Walmart prices!!!

I have some, use them. Work good in weeds, I don't know about rocks and wood.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I'm just getting into jig fishing, and these seem to be a good place to start.

Arkie style heads were designed for wood.

I've used a bunch of Arkie jigs over the years. A decent jig for the money IMO. Jigs are my favorite technique and a very versatile bait. Sometimes a lighter jig is a good option. Good luck.

The 14.6 state record largemouth that was caught by Roger Hockersmith from Mountain Lake. The record that stood for many years was caught on an Arkie Jig.

Sorry, I didn't pay attention to "football". I'm using the regular Arkies. my mistake :-?

I missed it too.  I'm so used to Arkie referring to a head style, I forget they are a brand as well.  Footballs are best for working rocks.
