As summer is basically here for us down in the south, topwaters have made their way from sitting out the winter in the tacklebox to the tip of our rods for the summer. Which style of topwater is your favorite? A frog, pencil, concave face, buzz bait, etc. Which ones do you have the most success with and when do you use them?
Good luck this summer,
PB

Zell pop and Cavitron are my 1-2 topwater punch. I'm experimenting with a Spro popping frog because some of the lakes I fish are getting grass in them now and I'm liking the results so far. The Cavitron buzzbait is my hands down favorite though.
Is it spring yet??

When to use them?

First thing in the morning.
Last thing in the evening.
Frogs all day.
Cavitrons all day.

When fishing smallmouth over cover that leaves the top foot of water clean I prefer fishing a walking bait. Lucky Craft Gunfish is my favorite followed by a Zara Puppy. If the surface is fairly broken I move on to a Berkley Frenzy popper. Clean alleys between emergent vegetation fish pretty well with a Baby Torpedo.

If I had to chose one it would be a baby torpedo. I have used Rapala minnows on top for years, although it's not technically a topwater bait.

Sorry about the 3 duplicate threads. My posts were moved from the original posting in the general section to here. Assuming the threads did not go through, I remade the topics 3 times. Sorry for the inconvenience.
If you want, just post in the first of the three threads.
