Rounds in the home

Having a debate with an old anti-gun friend who thinks I am insane because I have over 1,000 round (varying calibers) in the home. To me, that is just a good start considering I have S&W 40, 22lr,.223, .308, 12 and 20 gauge to feed.
Anyone here care to share your totals? I wanted to post this on a board not dedicated to guns to show a little impartiality.

A good friend of mine is a serious gun nut though. He's got thousands of rounds of different types in his house. I mean he's a serious firearms guy though. He's probably got a couple hundred different weapons stored at home.

I've got roughly 250 rounds locked up at home for my pistol. I don't shoot that often. Most of those are in a box sitting on a shelf. I've got three magazines that are loaded and locked away in my safe with the pistol.

He's not quite Nugent, but he's gotta be really close. The best part, this guy isn't even a hunter. He just likes guns....a lot.

2700 .22LR
250 .38 special
900 9mm
1500-2000 .223/5.56 (I'm not gonna count them all)
100 12ga.
Plus...
1 pack each 1/4 oz and 3/8 oz slingshot ammo and ~8000 .177 BB's
I've been steadily trimming down the "collection" and consolidating calibers for the past several years so the ammo cans aren't as full as they used to be since I unloaded the .40 and .45 ammo.
Right now I'm stocking up on ammo and eyeballing a new varmint gun...so I may wind up adding another caliber to the mix. The .17HMR does nasty things to little furry creatures. ;D
Contrary to popular belief, "Shimano" is not the answer to every question.

I thought about stock piling, but then I don't go and shoot much. That money is better spent getting to and from the lake.
