Many of y'all would have guessed it would have to be a grass flat, uhhhh no it aint; my absolute favorite piece of structure for finding larger than average bass would have to be an intersection.

Intersection Defined: Spots where two creeks intersect or where a feeder creek intersects with the main river.

Intersecting Logic: Around the “Y” created by the intersection are found multiple forms of structure such as channels, points, ridges, ledges, sharp drop-offs, slow tapering drop-offs, and humps all in one location.

The Best Intersections: Depths of 12-18' inside the “Y” is my #1 attractant but this depth on all three sides along with timber and/or grass would be the prime example of a Honey Hole.

Fishing at the “Y”: With my boat positioned inside the “Y” (usually anchored) and casting from shallow to deep with Texas Rigs, Carolina Rigs, Swim Baits & Jig-N-Craws I'll find the bigger bass. In winter months fish these areas with Jigging Baits or Drop Shots in 20 to 30' of water.

Super tip.

We can find these intersections on topo maps.

Catt, its 6:30 in the morning where you are.

I thought I was the only one up this early on a Sunday morning who is not going fishing.  ;D

Thanks for the tip, Catt. Sorry about the back (don't feel like the Lone Ranger). Been there, done that and bought the darned T-shirt...

Sorry bout your back Texas Mook!

Question: When Fishing at the Y, what part of the Y do you start at? What about if there is cover somewhere along it like a broken tree?

Funny you mention the Y,  I have two favorite spots both Y's where the north fork meets the south fork of the river and also a small creek.  Both spots produce quantity and quality.

I like the inside of the “Y”; if you look at the “V” formed by the intersection and next look at the point of that “V” that is where you'll likely find me anchored. Why do you like this particular location, because I have 3 creek/river channels hopefully within casting distance of the boat. The next reason is I'm anchored on a point and as y'all should know points point the way to bass; this point is located at the end of a ridge formed by the water flow of the creeks/rivers.

Y'all starting to get the picture?

All these various types of structure found at one location!

Stir in some timber ether standing or lay downs with stumps, a brush pile or three, toss in a little salad in the form of Hydrilla, Coontail, or Milfoil and y'all have done located a bona fide Honey Hole far sure.
